Duties & Responsibilities

The Senior Business Analyst will join the small team that supports Harvard's video conferencing service and the Zoom platform. Rolled out in 2019, Zoom's use and importance has grown at the University over the last year and is now a central University platform supporting teaching, learning, research, administration and student life across all Harvard schools and departments. The Senior Business Analyst will collaborate across the University to improve the video conference service by providing support to users and identifying additional enhancement opportunities.

The ideal candidate will feel comfortable managing a variety of tasks and projects independently and demonstrate a capacity to adapt and learn quickly. At times, the Senior Business Analyst may gather requirements, draft communications or help administer the platform. The Senior Business Analyst may support other End User Services as needed.

Typical Core Duties

  • Work at an expert level within a team on most phases of service analysis and consider the business implications of technology applications to the current and future business environment
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into systems requirements and scoping
  • Define systems requirements, conduct gap analysis, and identify feasible alternative solutions that meet defined business objectives
  • Responsible for business transition management to ensure that systems are understood by users
  • Contribute to budget planning
  • Contribute to the development of plans and policies for a unit/school
  • Advise unit/school
  • Abide by and follow the Harvard University IT technical standards, policies and Code of Conduct

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years' post-secondary education and/or relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications

The following Additional Qualifications are strongly preferred. If you meet some, but not all, you are still encouraged to apply; we value employees with a willingness to learn.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, or equivalent role, in higher education or a large organization
  • Experience working in support of video conferencing or Zoom platform, strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, analytical, and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated team performance skills and a service mindset app

Certificates and Licenses

  • Completion of Harvard IT Academy specified foundational courses (or external equivalent) preferred

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in an office setting
In light of the global pandemic, all interview and onboarding activity for HUIT will be conducted via telephone & Zoom video conferencing. Temporary work from home arrangements will be required for this position through December, 2020, and it is not yet known when traditional on-campus work will resume. Additional detail will be provided to candidates during the interview process.
