We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Payable Specialist at our head office in Richmond, BC. Under the general direction of the Manager, Accounting, performs Accounting-related functions to include Accounts Payable, journal entries, and accounting/administration related tasks or duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for Accounts Payable tasks including posting of bills received into GP, and set-up of payments of bills due, including via EFT, ACH and other online payment processes.
  • Assist with credit card expense verifications and personal expense claims.
  • Assist with Petty Cash and bank deposits.
  • Assist with the Government and Regulatory Filings (GST, PST, WCB)
  • Assist with monthly accounts and bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with Purchase Order reporting, expense analysis and periodic reports.
  • Perform other tasks and projects as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • At least 3 years of AP experience.
  • Related post-secondary education or relevant experience.
  • Pursuing an accounting designation is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Canadian ASPE and GAAP.
  • Experience with MS Excel.
  • Experience with computerized accounting systems (knowledge and experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP and Management Reporter an asset).

  • Ability to learn and retain accounting information, terminology, policies and procedures; work effectively with a wide variety of people; and maintain composure.
  • Ability to analyze accounting data and to perform account reconciliations.
  • Take initiative and deal effectively with situations; work well under pressure.
  • Process high volume of transactions and meet deadlines.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively, respectfully, and tactfully.
  • Must have good organizational and facilitation skills as well as be trustworthy, detailed, accurate, and analytical. Must be able to keep sensitive information confidential.
  • Ability to work in a team or matrix environment.
