Position Summary:

As a key member of the Business Planning & Analysis (BP&A) team and business partner to the Regional Commercial team, this position plays a crucial role in the support of Sales strategy for the Alberta and Saskatchewan Regions.The incumbent will be well-informed in regional sales strategies, latest category and consumer insights, business trends and competitive activities, to deliver high quality decision support, recommendations for sustainable value creation and communication of financial risks and opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner with key stakeholders and support company priorities:
    • Support Regional Director and Commercial Manager in Annual Planning Process
    • Take ownership of analyses, sales promotion calculations, forecasts and brand reports while providing business analytics and insights for strategic decision making
    • Monitor competitive market activity and dynamics, regulatory changes, competition and industry developments and proactively assess and communicate impact on profitability
    • Prepare category reviews and leverage insights to identify sales opportunities and improve position. Develop and recommend strategy in line with performance, competitive landscape and resources available
    • Track and analyze (pre and post-mortem) promotional activity using Trade Promotion Management (TPM) - system against key performance metrics to leverage key insights and make recommendations on future executions
    • Perform ROI analyses through the investigation of depth and frequency of events to optimize overall trade investment
    • Act as key liaison to Supply Chain and Finance teams for Budgeting, Forecasting and communication of regional risks and opportunities
  • Provide analytic support to the Regional Commercial team (and wider organization) via development and enhancement of tools and reporting
  • Deliver effective presentations to key stakeholders at various levels, including Senior Leadership
  • Provide training to Regional Commercial team as required (new systems, fact-based/data-driven selling, market & industry trends)
  • Act as key regional contact for Power BI dashboards, TPM system and regional Liquor Board questions
  • Lead and/or participate in special projects/ad hoc analysis as required

Education & Experience:
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in analysis and strategic insights
  • Strong experience with data storytelling
  • Strong technical knowledge in MS suite - particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Previous working experience with Power BI and TPM system an asset
  • Proven strategic thinking skills - ability to understand market performance, translate insights into opportunities, and develop clear recommendations
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to influence
  • Consumer Packaged Goods experience an asset
  • Financial Analyst experience an asset
  • AC Nielsen experience an asset
  • High attention to detail
  • Team player with high energy and demonstrated initiative
  • An understanding of the Wine and Spirits industry an asset
