Role Summary
To report and support Magna Powertrain Driveline Systems global finance team in the business planning and forecasting process and tracking of actual performance; including:
- Analyze entity level KMIs in the business plan/forecast and providing management reports on improvements/deterioration at a relevant level to base year;
- Analyze and report actual performance versus the established KMIs while critically evaluating the nature of the variances and explaining next steps communicated by the operating entities;
- Maintain actual, forecast and budget data within the financial reporting consolidation tool (HFM);
- Participate in ad-hoc and business case reviews as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for monthly consolidation reports and ensure all the information reflected in HFM accurately.
- Develop standardized budget/forecast templates for operation divisions which will be used to quantify improvement/deterioration of the business over the business planning horizon at a relevant level (e.g. understand the annual impact on contribution margin of volume, givebacks/quick savings, material cost improvement/deterioration, annual labour cost increases etc.)
- Ensure that BP/FCST templates fulfil reporting requirements [anticipate/incorporate required inputs to minimize/eliminate additional requests of divisions]; and
- Ensure that base data in business plan is defined at a level that is relevant to tracking of actual results in HFM.
- Maintain HFM journal entries and load top level adjustments into HFM
- Participate monthly results review with divisions, and follow-up with divisions ensure data integrity in the financial reporting system (HFM)
- Monitor actual costs to ensure the costs within the budget/forecast, and be able to explain the improvement/deterioration at high level
- Prepare monthly and quarterly internal and external reports requested by Driveline and MPT
- Perform balance sheet review monthly/quarterly to understand major fluctuations
- Support/train divisions' personnel and effectively communicate with divisions for the questions and queries related to the reporting and HFM
- Update/standardize reporting templates regularly to ensure all the reports are captured the latest information/requests from MPT and Magna
- Assist with developing key performance measure reports to aid management in monitoring business and/or functional performance
- Follow Magna's Code of Conduct and Ethics and related compliance policies
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Key Qualifications/Requirements
- CPA designation (CGA, CMA, or CA) or equivalent
- 3-5 years' experience in a global consolidation environment at a manufacturer
- Knowledge of US GAAP
- Consolidation & reporting experience in Hyperion Financial Management (HFM)
- Strong financial & data analysis skills
- Strong computer application skills (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint)
- Good verbal and written communication skills combined with interpersonal skills
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 5% of the time
