Who you'll work with

Ontario Teachers' Treasury Operations team within Finance Operations is responsible for overseeing 300+ bank accounts across multiple legal entities and 30+ currencies that are currently required to support various investment strategies within the plan. The team's objective is to ensure timely and quality reporting of investment cash and financial reports with a focus on controls and risk mitigation.

As the Investment Services Administrator, you will gain a breadth of knowledge within a fast pace Finance Operations team. This role requires strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to communicate with multiple internal teams, our banks, and with counterparties. It also carries a high degree of responsibility as the dollar value of transactions is significant and errors can result in large losses for the fund which may not be recoverable.

Ontario Teachers' Treasury Operations team consists of 9 people led by the Senior Manager, Treasury Operations. The Investment Services Administrator in this position will report to the Manager of Treasury Operations. Our team supports various Investments teams within OTPP, thus there are opportunities to interact with teams across Finance Operations who focus on trades, income management, derivatives, private investments, as well as Corporate Finance and our banks.

What you'll do
  • Participate in the production support of various processes and systems
  • Identify, analyze, respond to and resolve issues and problems
  • Demonstrate "Expert User' status in understanding department's processes and systems
  • Provide assistance to the team on complex issues and share knowledge with other team members
  • Ensure internal control standards are being met and completeness and accuracy of information
  • Check and reconcile information to ensure accuracy
  • Follow up on and resolve discrepancies
  • Act as key contributor to projects for the unit under the guidance of the Financial Analyst
  • Direct activities and tasks related to system upgrades, new releases, and bug fixes
  • Contribute to identification and carrying out improvements, including assisting Financial Analyst to research, identify and document new markets, products, processes or systems
  • Assist in development/implementation of new processes/systems
  • Collaborate on recommendations for process changes and improvements
  • Test new modules and/or functionality to ensure it meets department requirements
  • Direct initiatives to create efficiencies and effective day to day processes
  • Own components of change management or operational improvements
  • Develop and implement tests plans
  • Design, deliver and generate standard reports
  • Communicate with internal and external clients in a professional and timely manner
  • Participate in development of new requirements or processes requested by clients
  • Collaborate with Technology, Investments, service providers, consultants and/or vendors in the delivery of business as usual and projects, to meet the Plan's changing requirements
  • Maintain relationships to ensure high quality service by suppliers
  • Request/provide information as needed to established suppliers
  • Contribute to completeness and quality of team training
  • Maintain knowledge of issues and provide constructive ideas relative to Plan's operations
  • Other duties as requested


What you'll need
  • Relevant university degree (such as Accounting, Finance, Economics, Commerce) or equivalent relevant experience with Investment Finance processes
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent quantitative and computer skills (Excel and Access)
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to think through problems, assess a variety of factors and recommend a solution
  • Good background skills and knowledge of accounting and reconciliation processes
  • Ability to meet deadlines, adapt to a rapidly changing environment and sustain high productivity levels
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and very thorough
  • Self-starter, confident, innovative, standout colleague
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Enrollment in the CFA, CPA program is an asset
  • You must be graduating from your program in2020 or in 2021
