Your role
Are you someone who is detail oriented and has a passion for Finance? We are looking for someone like that to join our team as an Accountant. In this role you will have responsibility for:
- accounts receivable and accounts payable
- bank reconciliations
- assisting in month-end process
- monitoring Working Capital and Foreign Exchange exposure
- monitoring Fixed Assets and Premises Provisions
- posting and approving journal entries
- preparing general ledger account reconciliations
- reviewing coding of invoices, expense reports, and inter-company charges
- reviewing shared cost invoice preparation
- assisting with payments via cheques, electronic fund transfers, and bank drafts
- calculating Securities Inventory P&L
- supporting Daily P&L Reporting
Your team
You'll be working in the Finance & Accounting team in Toronto, focused on supporting the Investment Banking and Asset Management divisions.
Your expertise
- ideally you have at least 3 years of previous work experience as an accountant within the financial sector with specific experience with Accounts Payable processing and invoice coding
- excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP formula, pivot tables, etc.) is a must
- SAP and Broadridge knowledge is considered an asset
- familiar with standard office equipment, such as copiers and scanners
- demonstrated ability to learn new software in a short time
- excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
- strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
- effective at taking complete notes on procedures
- excellent judgment and decision-making abilities; takes initiative and applies common-sense thinking
- able to multi-task while keeping the work area organized
- able to handle a demanding workload and adjust priorities to accommodate changing tasks
- able to work independently and as part of a team
