Latrobe Regional Hospital (LRH) is the major provider of specialist health services in the Gippsland region, east of Melbourne. Our comprehensive range of services extends to emergency and intensive care, elective surgery, allied health, obstetrics, medical and radiation oncology at the Gippsland Cancer Care Centre, dialysis and aged care. LRH is also the regional provider of mental health services in Gippsland.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified Financial Accountant to join the Finance Department team at Latrobe Regional Hospital on a Full Time Ongoing basis

Reporting to the Finance Manager the successful applicant will play an important role in providing a high level of accounting technical expertise in delivering a quality finance service.

The successful applicant will be required to:

  • Maintain an accurate General Ledger and produce timely financial reports for internal and external stakeholders; and
  • Maintain asset registers and tracking of capital expenditure. Ensuring their appropriate treatment in compliance with accounting standards and internal policies; and
  • Responsible for lodgement of Australian Taxation Office required reporting including Fringe Benefits Taxation Return and Business Activity Statements; and
  • Prepare acquittals and other financial statements/reports required by third party funding authorities including the DHHS; and
  • Responsible for interpretation and application of Australian Accounting Standards where applicable within the Public Health Service; and
  • Assist the Finance Manager with preparation of financial reports and commentary for presentation to the Board of Directors and other reports that may be requested by the Chief Executive or executive members of the management team.

To be successful in this position you will need to have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting. Membership of the CA or CPA (desirable, not mandatory); and
  • Competent computer skills, especially in Microsoft Excel; and
  • Strong understanding of AASB Accounting Standards and Taxation requirements; and
  • Prior experience in ORACLE or similar Accounting software; and
  • Experience in a public hospital or a large health organisation (desirable)

Enterprise Agreement includes four (4) weeks of accrued annual leave per year plus the option of a monthly accrued day off (ADO) for full time employees. Hourly salary is exclusive of superannuation entitlements and salary packaging options are available for all employees.
