How will I help?

You will oversee the teams responsible for valuation methodology, independent price verification and the change and governance covering valuation, product control, securitisation and hedge accounting.

You will be primarily responsible for providing thought leadership in the valuation space as well as ensuring a consistent change strategy and governance process across the above areas. Supporting the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives that increase the efficiency and effectiveness of reporting processes; work closely with other teams to deliver improvements.

You will link in with key stakeholders across Group Treasury, Financial Markets, Market Risk, Treasury Risk and Model Risk helping to lead and drive the Westpac Group's approach to fair valuation.

What do I need?
  • Proficient leadership experience of up to 10 direct and indirect reports.
  • Strong understanding of balance sheet and profit and loss drivers and performance metrics with previous valuation exposure.
  • Adaptive influencing and relationship building skills across senior executives and peers.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and superior attention to detail.
  • Ability to deal with complex problems and navigate the 'grey'.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Commerce or Accounting with over 10 years post graduate experience with CA or CPA preferred.
