Our client a medium sized alternative asset manager is hiring an assistant accountant based in London. The firm has grown substantially with offices in London and New York and is in a period of further rapid expansion including new strategies.
This role is ideal for a junior within a private equity or alternatives business. The position would be suitable for a candidate with previous in-house experience in an investments firm, or a part qualified accountant coming from practice.

Key areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assisting in the month end NAV production and MI preparation for Senior Management
- Maintenance of monthly reconciliations processes and other financial controls
- Improve the automation, efficiency, and controls in all processes
- Assisting in the preparation of year end and mid-year IFRS financial statements and the associated audit
- Engaging with external service providers, e.g. Fund administrators, as required
- Working effectively with the finance team and others (Operations / IT / Front Office), where required, to manage outputs and deliverables
- Assisting with ad hoc data and reporting requests as the business needs
Requirements
- Experience of working within a private equity/alternative asset manager
- An undergraduate degree or equivalent with an excellent academic record (A's and B's only) and a proven track record of success in their past endeavours
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- High level of numeracy
- Strong analytical skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with excel and experience of working with finance software
- Dynamic and flexible with excellent time management, planning and organisational skills
- Understanding the principles of effective financial systems including processes and controls
- High personal/professional ethics and integrity
- Ability to work well under pressure to tight deadlines and to deliver high quality output in line with requirements, often defined by others
