We are exclusively partnering with our client, a London based retail business, who are looking to hire a Head Of Finance who can come in and play a pivotal role in the next stage of the businesses progression.

The role will be a combination of management and training of staff members, owning the overall accounting and compliance needs of the group as well as responsibility for managing the cash and debt obligations of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a strong voice within the business to advocate finance and its purpose
  • Deputise for the FD when needed
  • Be a partner to the FD, CFO and senior leadership team in tackling the day to day concerns of the business
  • Assist the FD in the strategy creation and validation, of the group
  • Lead, manage and develop a team of 10 across all levels of finance
  • Own and manage key external relationships such as Audit, Tax Banking and Insurance


Accounting, Compliance and Control

  • First line owner of the financial statements of the group.
  • Ownership of the group Audit process, ensuring that the group's externally published financial statements are IFRS compliant.
  • Own the month end close process with focus on the balance sheet to ensure the integrity of the financial accounts
  • Ownership of the delivery of activities relating to Tax (Direct and Indirect), Banking , Insurance and company secretarial
  • Responsible for setting a strong internal control environment


Treasury

  • Assisting the FD in setting the cash management strategy of the group
  • Ownership of the future looking cashflow models of the group and implementation of strategies to ensure compliance to current debt agreements
  • Managing FX risk within the group and ensuring relevant hedges are in place
  • Managing the relationship with our banking and debt providers
  • Managing the team that work on cash management for the group


Operations

  • Ownership and management of the Accounts Payable and Receivable functions and processes
  • Ensuring the team are operating with best practice and using KPI's to manage performance of the team.

  • Create and challenge company processes and aid in their improvement


Candidate Requirements

  • Clear signs of leadership and interpersonal skills to succeed in the role
  • Visible experience of managing and building a team of at least 8
  • ACA qualified accountant from a recognised Accountancy firm, couple with at least 4+ years industry experience, and can demonstrate elements of the job description within an industry role.
  • Non ACA candidates will be considered but must have had at least 6+ years of owning the accounting and audit process within industry.
  • Experience in retail or wholesale environment preferred but not required
  • Strong technical accounting experience - including IFRS, Treasury related standards and accounting and interpreting the impact of new standards
  • Ability to communicate technical financial concepts
  • Ability to plan, organise and achieve deadlines
  • Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders across the Group from Board level down.
  • Strong excel, financial modelling and ERP systems knowledge
  • Strong mentoring and coaching skills
  • Strong attention to detail and thorough approach to tasks.
  • Problem solving, can-do attitude, willingness to go the extra mile
