Could you be an Academy Ambassador in Gloucestershire?  The Robinswood Academy Trust seeks three non-executives/directors one of whom to become Chair and a Member to join its board.

The Academy Ambassadors programme brings the expertise of the business world onto boards at multi-academy trusts (MATs) throughout the country to raise standards of education and improve the life chances of young people, which is critical to our social and economic success.

The opportunity

The Robinswood Academy Trust in Gloucestershire seeks three trustees/non-executive directors, one of whom to be appointed as incoming Chair of the trust board. It also wishes to appoint a further individual to its group of Members, whose roles ensure effective governance throughout the trust. Encouraging all pupils to “Be The Best You Can Be”, the trust embraces diversity, inclusivity and supporting every child to love learning. Board meetings take place in Hardwicke, Gloucester.

The Robinswood Academy Trust was incorporated on 15 February 2011 and operates five primary academies in Gloucester. Three of the five academies support a high number of pupils who either have special education needs and/or are of disadvantaged backgrounds. In total, the trust educates over 1,400 pupils, employs c. 230 members of staff and has an annual income of £9.30million.

The board seeks three business leaders with expertise in

• CEO/Chair experience or
• Real Estate/Property
• Change Management or
• Branding / Marketing or
• Audit or
• Corporate Governance

As a key member of the board you will support the trust in achieving the following over the next 12 – 24 months:

• Ensure systems of governance and leadership are well structured
• Support and challenge executive leadership team to drive to improved performance
• Optimise the use of resources to maintain the high quality of education is delivered

What’s involved?

Board governance in education is a strategic, ‘eyes on, hands off’ commitment which typically involves attending c. six board meetings per year/6-8 hours’ time per month.

You will be responsible for:

• Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
• Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff; and
• Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent

As an Academy Ambassador, you will join our ambassador network which provides resources, guidance, networking events and webinars to support you in your role. All roles are pro bono.
