POSITION: HEAD OF FINANCE

LOCATION: EAST CORNWALL

SALARY: £45,000 TO £50,000 PLUS BENEFITS

Capstone are working in partnership with a UK Top 10 Golf Resort based in Cornwall to appoint an experienced Finance Director to join their UK Management team. This resort, along with many others in the UK, is owned by an Australian Fund. The Finance Director will direct the on-site Finance Team in processing transactions relating to the profit & loss account and capital expenditure, reporting to the Australian board monthly.

About the role (specifically but not limited to)

Revenue, Expenditure and Cash Controls

Implementing and monitoring essential and compliant financial controls to ensure full revenue capture and mitigate losses
Implementing procedures to ensure the accurate processing and raising of sales ledger invoices, ensuring invoices are sent out in a timely manner, containing the relevant and accurate backup, for all Debtors accounts
Ensuring all Sales Ledger accounts have current credit terms and are reviewed annually with tracking of key SL accounts, to mitigate risk
The administration and collection of sales ledger debt in a timely fashion
The administration and collection of other resort debt, such as Membership DD failure
Control the authorisation of Purchase Orders
Supplier statements reconciliation
Ensure that the checking & reconciliation of all Cash & Credit Cards are completed daily and report any anomalies to senior management
Ensure all financial controls for department cash handling, and storage of cash, are in place, robust, and can be queried
Ensure all miscellaneous charges, allowances, etc. have sufficient back up and information and are signed by the relevant Senior ManagerPayroll Costs

Weekly checking of payroll costs, against predicted spends, compared to revenues and reporting anomalies to senior management
Writing annual payroll budgets, in line with organisation structure and pay bands structures
Involvement in payroll planning for all departments, especially around minimum wage changesReporting

To control and report daily revenues, ensuring all business is accounted for and charged, and allocated appropriately in line with hotel and company policies and procedures
Signing off internally generated monthly, and yearly P&L, after month-end amendments, accruals, and anomalies reporting
Budget setting for each financial year, and reporting against each month
Weekly and Monthly revenue and key costs reporting to Board, Managing Director, Hotel Manager and all Heads of Department; identifying variances and querying
Weekly KPI reporting to Managing Director, Hotel Manager and other interested parties
Ensure procedures are in place for monthly stock counts, float checks, safe checks, and asset security
Support external audit process at Year-End
Supply monthly board reports with analytics, identifying revenue and cost saving opportunities and highlighting any issues
Attend virtual monthly board meetings
Cash flow forecasting predicting peaks and troughs
Planning capital expenditure to meet business need and propose justification with calculated ROI
Working with the managing director on Estate development with new revenue streams and links to community including potential involvement with newly formed charitable trust
Estate development due to commence 2020 will require full Capex controls, reporting and monthly brief to the boardAbout you

Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following;

Qualified Accountant with prior experience in a similar position, experience within the hotel industry would be desirable
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
Conscientious about your work and excellent attention to detail, able to problem solve and tenacious in approach
Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team
Self-motivated and driven
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office including Word & Excel
