The UKRI public engagement team manages a £10m+ portfolio of public engagement projects and programmes in areas such as STEM inspiration, public dialogue, inclusive innovation and public engagement with research. We launched our public engagement vision in November 2019, alongside a range of new programmes.
Reporting to the public engagement lead, the public engagement project and finance officer will be responsible for supporting financial management of the team’s programmes and activities, including budgeting, forecasting and reporting. You will support programme managers in budgetary control and forecasting of their projects, reviewing actual expenditure and income against budget, analysing variances and promptly following up significant issues.
You will also be responsible for working with the STEM inspiration programme managers to commission projects, and work with commissioned partners to ensure successful delivery to agreed objectives and performance measures.
You will be a proactive individual and highly organised with strong analytical and communication skills.
Key Areas of Accountability
Delivery/Programmes/ Projects/Process:
Financial management of the public engagement team’s programmes and activities, including budgeting, forecasting and month end and year end reporting, including reviewing actual expenditure and income against budget, analysing variances and promptly following up significant issues
Management of databases and financial spreadsheets
Providing advice and support to the public engagement team on financial management of their programmes and activities
Working with the programme managers to commission new programmes, and working with commissioned partners to ensure successful delivery to agreed objectives and performance measures.
Team work/ Collaboration:
Work with internal and external stakeholders, forming constructive working relationships at all levels.
