Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
The job will involve among other responsibilities the following:

1. Audit Planning
a) Establish risk-based audit plans to determine the priorities of the internal audit activity, in it being consistent with strategic business goals and objectives, and to ensure that disciplined approach to controlling risks is maintained; and
b) Ensure all the subsidiaries, departments and processes are covered in the internal audit plan;

2. Internal Controls
c) Perform detailed walk-throughs to be able to create process maps for end-to-end activities;
d) Prepare and maintain standard templates and checklists to collect information required to serve the purpose of audits;
e) Check the soundness of accounting procedures and reliability of financial records and reports;
f) Evaluate the internal processes to identify deviations from policies and best practices;
g) Verifications of payment documents as per approved procedures;
h) Ascertain compliance with established, policies, plans, procedures and processes in the Group;
i) Analyze, propose and recommend changes to policies and procedures in order to maintain the structure of internal controls and conform to applicable external regulations;
j) Evaluate the reliability and integrity of information and the means used to identify, measure, classify, and report such information;
k) Evaluate the means of safeguarding assets and, as appropriate, verifying the existence of such assets;
l) Complete data analysis on allocated engagements to identify areas of risk, identify outliers within populations and focus sample selection to areas of concern;
m) Educate the wider business including subsidiaries on internal controls;
n) Issue findings and recommendations to mitigate the risks, enhance performance and achieve the Group's objectives;
o) Maintain accurate and complete records. This will require having good working papers, copies of evidence where required and detailed reports. All relevant data must be captured and stored accurately as set out in team procedures; and
p) Carry out validation testing of closed issues to ensure that action taken to resolve a previously identified issue continues to be in place and effective.

q) Act as a point of contact for the business for all policy and regulatory Compliance Monitoring queries;
r) Monitor business activities for potential compliance risk implications; and
s) Identify regulatory changes, conduct impact assessments and support the implementation of new regulations.

4.Risk Management
t) Maintain and constantly update Group and Subsidiary risk registers;
u) Evaluate and test business processes and controls, with the objective of identifying risk areas and putting into place robust mitigating actions;
v) Support management to mitigate risks by proposing solutions and best practices; and
w) Providing training to staff to build audit / risk awareness.

5.Advisory services
x) Makes recommendations for the best ways for the Group to avoid fraud and reduce waste;
y) Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency with which resources are employed; and
z) Connect and benchmark continuously with international standards and other global organizations to bring best practices to the function.

6.Special Investigations
a) Conducts investigations of suspected internal fraud and special audits as may be requested; and
b) Managing the Group Whistleblower Policy and cases.

c) Preparing audit reports to Management for implementation of recommendations; and
d) Preparing quarterly internal audit reports and risk registers to the Board of Directors.
Any other responsibility that will be assigned to you by CGC.

a) A Bachelor's degree in a business related field
b) Masters Degree will be an added advantage
c) CPA(K) professional qualification or its equivalent plus IIA and/or ISACA Certifications; and
d) 3-yr plus membership, in good standing, in at least one professional body.
