HOPCo is the corporate parent of Arizona–based entities, The CORE Institute, Northern Arizona Orthopaedics, The CORE Institute Specialty Hospital, and Michigan–based The CORE Institute. HOPCo is a vertically integrated musculoskeletal outcomes management company. HOPCo manages physician practices, hospital service lines, population health and value–based care programs, and musculoskeletal delivery networks.
As HOPCo continues to grow, we are looking for a Sr. Accountant in the Finance Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Prepare and record system depreciation, capitalized labor costs, and reclassification and adjustment journal entries as needed.
  • Prepare month–end Fixed Asset reconciliations, Fixed Asset rollforward and other supporting documentation.
  • Prepare various fixed asset schedules to support annual audit and cash flow statement.
  • Research and resolve issues with project managers and other operations personnel as it relates to large capital projects, such as clinic and hospital buildouts.
  • Create a new process to properly track capital projects actual costs to budget.
  • Lead monthly meetings with capital project owners to ensure effective communication on timing, BVA, and status of projects or large purchases.
  • Identify and document accounting treatment (capital or expense) for projects.
  • Maintain capital lease schedules and ensure appropriate coding of payments by Accounts Payable.
  • Prepare monthly health insurance premium allocation for various legal entities and related reconciliation.
  • Prepare monthly accruals and related reconciliations.
  • Assist with trend analysis to ensure expected monthly expenses are recorded timely and accurately.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding company financial information.
EDUCATION
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • CPA is strongly preferred.
EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of five years accounting experience.
  • Accounting experience in a health care organization preferred.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.
REQUIREMENTS
  • None
KNOWLEDGE
  • Strong working knowledge of general accounting concepts, monthly close process, financial reporting, and GAAP concepts.
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of ASC 840 and ASC 842, Lease Accounting.
SKILLS
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to interact effectively with various levels of staff and management.
  • Excellent time management skills, with no or minimal direction from management to meet required deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
ABILITIES
  • Ability to determine accounting treatment under ASC 840 until transition to new guidance of ASC 842.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours during peak periods.
  • Ability to multi–task, prioritize and work under pressure to meet deadlines while maintaining highest quality of work product.
  • Ability to independently develop solutions to problems/challenges as they arise.
  • Motivated, self–directed and results–driven approach to work, takes ownership of assigned tasks to drive them to completion.
