The role will work closely with the Finance Director and the wider Operational finance team to ensure that appropriate financial controls and procedures are in place across the business in order to safeguard its assets, and to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information as reported on a weekly / monthly basis. Key Responsibilities Controls Ensure that adequate procedures, processes and controls are in place in the functions noted above, with the objective of ensuring that the business - invoices and receives payment for all product dispatched, at the correct price, to agreed terms; pays only for product /services received, duly authorised, at the agreed price, on a timely basis; pays staff for hours worked at the appropriate rates, with correct statutory deductions, at agreed times; processes its bank transactions accurately and manages its banking facilities efficiently and within its banking limits and facilities; has a robust process in place to identify and accrue for unrecorded liabilities. Ensure that a robust reconciliation process is in place in respect of key control accounts, and that a formalised process is in place in respect of balance sheet reconciliations on a periodic basis.  In particular, work closely with the Operational Finance Team to develop and implement controls over stock, to ensure that the balance sheet accurately reflects the actual position; Ensure that a robust process is in place for the monitoring and control of capital spend across the business, and has an appropriate system for recording and controlling fixed assets and depreciation. Reporting Develop and provide relevant management information and analysis relating to the periodic performance of the business versus budget (profit and loss account / balance sheet / cashflow / working capital metrics and KPIs) within agreed deadlines.  In particular, work closely with the Operational Finance Team  to ensure that weekly reports reconcile to monthly management accounts; Provide periodic overhead analysis to ensure that significant variances or trends are highlighted and dealt with in a timely manner; Provide input to the identification and correction of areas that require financial improvement, and contribute to driving financial awareness throughout the business; Provide input to the budgeting and forecasting process. Compliance Ensure that the business maintains compliance with statutory, legal and insurance requirements in regard to the areas of responsibility.  In particular, ensure that VAT, PAYE, taxation and CSO requirements are met on a timely basis; Liaise with the company's auditors to ensure the smooth and effective completion of the annual audit, and that any matters brought to the company's attention resulting from the audit are dealt with on a timely basis. Systems Develop and improve functionality and reporting within the ERP system in line with best practice; Develop and improve internal processes and procedures to maximise use of the system. Relationships Lead, develop, mentor and coach the finance team; Develop and manage relationships internally to positively contribute to the business; Develop and manage relationships with key external stakeholders (suppliers, auditors, banks, etc).
