Hays is delighted to be partnered with a market-leading UK business which is looking to recruit for a Tax Accountant. This business is continuing to grow and have a large, established and collaborative Tax Team which sit at the heart of the wider Finance Function. This role may be "based" in either Glasgow or Perth, however flexible and remote working options will continue following a return to normal. Please know, all employees are presently working from home due to present circumstances.

Your new role
As the successful applicant, you will work collaboratively with colleagues, both within the Tax and Finance Teams, to ensure that the business meets its Indirect Tax compliance obligations whilst also supporting tax planning and projects. To do so, you will review VAT return preparation and submission, delivering training and sharing technical information with individuals across the business to ensure accuracy and efficiency. You will provide advice to the group in regard to a range of topics, such as VAT liability, recoverability and mergers & acquisitions. Other key areas will be looking at the Domestic Reverse Charge and Making Tax Digital. You will communicate regularly with HMRC and contribute to process and procedural improvement. With assets beyond the UK, you will also be involved in some international VAT queries.

What you'll need to succeed
You will ideally be an ICAS, ACCA and/or CTA qualified professional, with experience of tax in either an in-house or practice capacity. Your tax knowledge may be solely VAT focused or far broader, for example, purely Corporate Tax. This organisation is seeking a motivated individual with excellent communication, organisation and initiative. The Head of Tax is keen to offer excellent professional development for an ambitious individual who relishes business partnering and a varied workload.
