The Interim Financial Analyst will be responsible for managing the capital expenditure process, from reviewing submission requests from the business, monitoring actual against budget and performing post investment appraisals. To assist in the preparation of monthly management pack, annual budgets and forecasts with specific focus on cash flow and balance sheet.

My client is a luxury retail business based in West London. They are looking for an Interim Financial Analyst to cover a 6 month maternity leave.

Description

Job Objectives

  • Manage the monthly rolling cash flow forecast and understand business funding requirements
  • Produce the monthly cash flow and balance sheet for management pack, reviewing variances against budget and last year and providing explanations
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, with specific responsibility for cash flow, capex and depreciation
  • Review of all capital expenditure request forms (CERs) submitted by the business, challenge assumptions and critically analyse before presenting to the Financial Controller and Financial Director for approval
  • Perform post investment appraisals on CAPEX to ensure performance is in line
  • Maintain capital expenditure actuals and ensure spend does not exceed budget
  • Review capital suspense account on a monthly basis to ensure all assets have been capitalised in the accounting system with specified start dates for depreciation
  • Meet regularly with capex budget holders to understand status of capex spend
  • Assist with the preparation and consolidation of monthly results for the group, including commentary on performance
  • Effective business partnering with key business areas to identify areas of opportunities and make recommendations for best practice solutions
  • Resolve queries from departments in a timely manner, and assess the financial impact of decisions, escalating any issues to the finance manager
  • Undertake analytical work, business appraisals and other finance support as requested
  • Assist in the year-end process including year-end accruals and preparation of information for external auditors
  • Plan and organise any other ad hoc projects as requested by the finance manager

Profile

The Interim Financial Analyst will be:

  • ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified (preferable retail background)
  • Strong PC skills, particularly Excel
  • Specific experience with capital expenditure procedure
