Financial Controller, Food Manufacturing Company,Galway

Company: Manufacturing Company, Galway Our client is a medium sized indigenous Irish company. Manufacturing from their plant in Galway they supply a unique range of products to a customer base across Ireland, the UK and Europe. The business is progressive and entrepreneurial with a  focus on quality and “best practice” They are viewed within their market sector as a results driven organisation who are achieving revenue and market share growth year on year.  They wish to appoint a Financial Controller who will join their Management Team and will take ownership of the finance function. Working closely with Directors, the candidate will be expected to provide them with key advice and support. Position: Financial Controller Reporting to the Managing Director the successful candidate, will take ownership of the finance function. This will include overseeing  financial accounting, reporting and control activities across the business in line with best practice and will include: Preparation of monthly management accounts including KPI reports Responsibility for completion of annual budgets and forecasts Management and development of finance team and overseeing of all aspects of the finance function, VAT returns, bank reconciliations and AP/AR functions. Stock control - monthly and annual stocktakes Ongoing development and review of accounting systems, controls and processes to ensure best practice Development and implementation of internal controls and systems Preparation of year end accounts and liaising with company auditors Assume responsibility for Annual Budget & Forecasting Process Critically review and monitor  costs within the business, with a view to reduction of the same Ensure accounting policies comply with the relevant accounting standards Oversee IT systems within Business Recommend changes that will improve the company's financial performance and financial controls. Liaise with auditors & draft statutory accounts for the company. Manage grant application process Candidate Profile Candidate should be a member of a recognised accountancy body (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA), with a number of years post qualification experience within a quality well run business.  Will suit a pro-active candidate with a “can do” attitude who is comfortable interacting at senior levels within a growing entrepreneurial medium sized indigenous business. Working experience within Manufacturing organisation would be a distinct advantage.
