A growing Retail organisation based in the heart of Harpenden are seeking a Senior Accounts Assistant to join them on a permanent basis. You will be part of a medium sized finance team and report into a friendly and hands on Finance Manager who can offer training. This role is extremely varied, ranging from Bank reconciliations, cash flow forecasting, general administration, intercompany accounting and much more. You will manage 2 staff members and be hands on.

My client are based in Harpenden and specialise in the Retail and FMCG sector. They have a large UK client base and are growing their Finance team in the UK therefore seeking a Senior Accounts Assistant to join them. You will be an integral of their finance team and be involved with month end, bank reconciliations, assisting with Management Accounts as well as managing a team of 2 Accounts Assistants. The salary they are offering is £28,000 - £32,000 dependent on experience and are ideally seeking a candidate who is QBE or a Stop Studier. Description

As an Assistant Accountant your role will involve -

  • 2 direct reports, set them KPIs and conduct appraisals
  • Transactional work when your team are on holiday so a hands on candidate is essential
  • Responsible for the month-end process
  • Corporation Tax Reporting and Tax Planning for Year End
  • Completing weekly and periodic management reports including detailed budget to actual variance analysis
  • preparation, posting and review of journals
  • completing all balance sheet reconciliations and analysing monthly movements
  • Ad-hoc analysis and projects to support the needs of the business
  • Intercompany accounting
  • Working closely with business partners
  • Year end reporting
  • General administration, the ability to muck in is essential

Profile

  • Ideally have experience of managing or overseeing, or the ability to manage
  • A background in a similar role is essential, have experience of Bank Reconciliations
  • Ideally a stop studier, or QBE candidate who is happy to muck in and not want to progress too quickly
  • The ability to multi task and work well under pressure
  • Friendly team player
  • Clear telephone manner
  • Excellent time keeper
