A top performing company based in Bath, who reach millions of customers across the South of England are looking for a Commercial Finance Manager to join a growing team within the business.
The Commercial Finance Manager will be an extremely commercial individual who is adept at building relationships with stakeholders at all levels and is able to develop a strong and credible business understanding to enable high level business partnering, and is also a strong modeller/analyst.
The team play a critical role in Group strategy, reporting into the Head of Strategy Development, you will be part of a team responsible for looking at key group-wide projects as well as a multitude of ad-hoc business case and investment appraisals and analysis projects.
Description
As the Commercial Finance Manager you will:
Provide financial analysis and appraisal on business projects and initiatives with scenarios to support business investment decisions.
To assist the team in the development of unregulated business plans. Manage or produce cost models to required standards, ensuring that project risks are addressed in line with Company policies and procedures, and comparison against company performance criteria.
To undertake risk analysis and background research of commercial opportunities. To produce scenario and sensitivity modelling and analysis to inform commercial bid decisions. Model income and profit on different customer scenarios.
Work with wholesale business to establish transparent cost discovery to establish fair access pricing
To develop tools to monitor and report on profitability of business units that are developed
To prepare cash flow projections for business units that are developed
To develop tools to monitor value creation and profitability of innovation programme
Provide and interpret financial information, report any reasons for unexpected variances: monthly
Work with company advisors where appropriate to ensure that all commercial aspects of the project are covered, for example funding requirements, tax, cash flow, payments, pricing and insurance etc. are properly managed.
Finalise Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss Accounts for business units that are developed
Produce profitability statements for customers and market segments
Profile
The right candidates for the role will be:
- Accounting Qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
- Experience within Financial Practice - Audit/Accounts
- Strong knowledge of Performance management techniques and KPI's
- Experience in business modelling and appraisal eg DD review
- The ability to interpret and communicate financial and operational performance
- Ability to work alone or in a team to tight time scales
- Self motivated and passionate to out-perform
- Ability to transfer financial knowledge and experience across business sectors
- Strong skills in presenting financial and non financial information
- Ability to cut through the detail to the key issues / factors
- Ability to work with external experts / consultants
