Assistant Financial Controller

As a result of a newly created head-office finance structure there is an opportunity for an ACA qualified accountant to take on an Assistant Financial Controller position with a renewable energy firm.

My client is a London-based renewable energy firm. With strong private equity backing they are committed to becoming one of the largest and best in class renewable energy and water investors globally and they have a focused growth plan to achieve this goal. Their current portfolio of assets located across seven countries is valued at more than US$2bn. They strike the perfect balance between being large in size and having an SME, start-up culture. The current team has a strong focus on working towards the ambitious growth targets and does this with the entrepreneurial flair often found in start-up businesses.

Description

As the Assistant Financial Controller you will play a critical role in supporting the Group FC of this renewable energy firm. You will work with the wider finance team and outsourced provider to deliver periodic reporting and provide further insight to the business. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Preparation of the quarterly Group management accounts in accordance with reporting deadlines;

• Identify and analyse variances for discussions with the appropriate local teams or finance outsource provider(s) and provide high quality commentary;

• Preparation of Group consolidated statutory accounts under IFRS for year-end;

• Acting as point of contact for audit queries, ensuring outstanding items in the audit issues log are resolved timeously;

• Coordinate and direct the preparation of the G&A forecast vs budget variance analysis on a monthly basis;

• Leading the annual corporate budgeting process, managing interactions with all key stakeholders as appropriate;

• Providing support to upcoming ERP implementation;

• Ad hoc analysis and reporting as required.

Profile

As a strong applicant for this Assistant Financial Controller position you will:

• Be an ACA qualified accountant with audit training (top tier firm preferred)

• Demonstrate a strong technical skill-set, specifically including multi-currency consolidation work

• Have excellent excel skills and a good degree of systems literacy

• Ideally show some level of PQE in a renewables or energy firm environment

• Show exposure to the budgeting process

• Possess excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to manage key senior stakeholders

You will ideally be on a 1 month notice period or available to start sooner.

Job Offer

The offer to the successful candidate will be between £50,000-£60,000 depending on experience plus a competitive benefits package including up to 50% bonus and pension matched up to 10%.
