Financial Controller - Theale, Berkshire Permanent Competitive salary, bonus and market leading benefits Direct Reports - Treasury Specialist, AP Manager, Finance Manager - Planning & Reporting, Finance Manager - Opex Indirect reports (no.) 1 MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE The Financial Controller is responsible for the effective operation and control of financial accounting and reporting, planning and finance operations for CTIL. It requires team leadership and the ability to drive activities to a successful conclusion. The role has a broad scope across CTIL and has day to day control of the relationship with the shareholder finance teams. This includes all budgeting and forecasting activities including managing the process with the CTIL Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the financial close processes and timely reporting and running the operational finance processes including Treasury and AP/AR as well as leading finance system enhancements. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Budgeting and forecasting Responsible for managing all budgeting, reforecasting and long term planning processes. This includes engaging the CTIL SLT and their teams and shareholder finance teams to agree and review activities and costs. It also includes preparation of Board Papers relating to the plans clearly and concisely. Financial Accounting and Reporting Overall responsibility for month end close and reporting (financial reporting to shareholders for consolidation and management accounts). Correct application of Financial Accounting policy and process (including balance sheet reconciliations). Ensuring optimal finance system configuration and use and ongoing finance support to all users across the business Managing the external audit process to ensure no adjustments and preparation of the annual statutory accounts. G&A overheads accounting, control & reporting (incl. to SLT) Ensuring company-wide compliance with the CTIL Delegation of Authorities Finance operations Ensure effective & efficient operation of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions to ensure all suppliers paid in line with CTIL payment policy and receivables collected promptly. Run process of continuous improvement to ensure all payment / invoicing issues are resolved & root cause addressed. Accurate cash flow forecasting and management of monthly funding process to ensure CTIL remains fully funded. Specialist finance Overall responsibility for tax - overseeing preparation and filing of CTIL corporate and other tax returns and for all aspects of VAT administration. Overall responsibility for company insurances - negotiation, approval and renewal of all Company insurance policies on a timely basis. Finance approval over payroll. Ensuring other ad-hoc support including employee tax compliance and expenses policy provided to the business. Compliance & Security To support and contribute actively to health and safety, environmental, business continuity and information security arrangements that meets our obligations to our customers. Company Scorecard To work with members of the Leadership Team and other stakeholders to deliver functional and company objectives in line with the company scorecard. Contribute and regularly review each element of the functional scorecard to ensure that it remains relevant to the business plan and on target. Company/Functional Scorecard Structure, lead, manage, develop and motivate the team to ensure that personal and functional objectives are met in line with the company scorecard. People Management Ensure that all people processes (including resourcing, performance management, recognition and reward) are undertaken to agreed standards and within published timelines (as appropriate). Experience (technical, managerial, industry) Strong financial and management accounting knowledge and experienceExperience in budgeting / forecasting processesUnderstanding of operational finance process and controlExperience in leading and managing teams to deliver against agreed targetsPrior experience of driving finance system improvementsExperience property and / or Telco industriesAgresso ERP application softwareBig4 audit background Education level / Qualifications (professional, vocational) Educated to degree level with Professional accountancy qualification (eg.
