My retained client is a private equity backed specialist design manufacturing/engineering business. To facilitate their continued growth they are seeking a high calibre Financial Controller to support the businesses ambitious growth plans and work closely with the MD.
Based at their Head Office and production site in Berkshire you will head up a small finance team with responsibility for all UK operations. Supplying to a well-established customer base in aerospace, automotive and medical sectors they have an excellent reputation. Revenue is up over 10% in 2017 and the business enjoys strong margins on its products.
In addition to utilising your strong technical skills you will also utilise your stakeholder & relationship management expertise being a key point of contact for the company's financial backers.
Working very closely with the MD you will have the gravitas to present at a board level and be keen to make a contribution to operational aspects of the company's performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Monthly board reporting, analysis and commentary to ensure variations to budget/forecast are fully understood, and to support key decision making.
- Ability to develop capital expenditure proposals to support further investment.
- Management of annual audits, tax compliance, improving cash flow and reporting to external stakeholders.
- Develop, drive and implement best practice processes and improvements to reporting.
- Ensure that accounting policies and guidelines are further developed, implemented and maintained throughout the business as the business develops.
- IT systems development to improve efficiencies such as the automation of processing and quotation workflows.
- Leadership and development of the operations team to support continued growth targets.
- Build, manage and sustain good relationships with external auditors/ bankers/tax advisors/lawyers/shareholders and other professional advisors.
The Person
- - You will be a graduate level Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with a track record of leading successful finance teams and delivering robust financial information in a timely fashion.
- - Effective time manager with the ability to build strong relationships internally and externally to support commercial and strategic decision making.
- - You will have worked in the manufacturing / engineering sector, ideally for a privately owned or Private Equity backed business.
- - Knowledge of contract driven and one off order driven customer relationships.
- - Previous experience of IT system development. Knowledge of EFACs would be advantageous.
- - Working knowledge of invoice discounting / factoring.
The Rewards
- A salary of £60 - 65,000 + Car Allowance
- Profit related bonus scheme ( 10 - 15 % of salary ).
