An opportunity has arisen for a Group Accountant to join an established Retail business, FTSE listed and based in central London.
Client Details
My client is a multi-£billion turnover retail giant and based in central London.
Description
The key responsibilities of this role are:
- Consolidate budget and forecast submissions.
- Prepare monthly management accounts pack for board.
- Prepare the weekly store sales report on a rota basis.
- Produce quarterly sales and profit figures for inclusion in Stock Exchange announcements.
- Produce the half year interim announcement, year end preliminary announcement and year end financial statements under IFRS.
- Assist with production of statutory accounts for head office structure companies.
- Completion of statutory statistical returns on a rota basis.
- Preparation of analysis and presentation material as requested, with focus on the balance sheet and cash flow.
- Work with systems accountants to maintain and develop the Group Hyperion consolidation system and reports.
- Ensure awareness of technical and business issues facing the OpCos. Review, support and challenge the OpCo reporting submissions.
- Develop excellent working relationships with the OpCos and other head office departments.
- Keep management and OpCos informed of accounting technical developments and their impact on Group/OpCo reporting. Participate in training events for the OpCos.
- Work on projects to implement new accounting and reporting developments and improvements.

Profile
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Qualified accountant - ACA/CIMA/ACCA
- Excel and Word skills required, prior Hyperion experience an advantage but not a requirement.
- PLC exposure
- Complex, multi-currency consolidations to IFRS highly desirable
- A good team player who can operate in a professional but friendly environment.
