My Client are a UK wide Accountancy Practice looking for a Director of Operations to join their team. The main purpose of your role will be to demonstrate business acumen to drive business performance to exceed financial budget requirements, will embed a performance culture of service excellence through a framework of quality and timely service outputs, will continually identify opportunities for improvements in revenues, systems, processes, technical output, and will drive improved employee and client satisfaction.

The Director of Operations will continually benchmark the effectiveness and efficiency of all areas of operational control against historical performance and best practice.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic management:

Delivery of financial objectives - through ownership and control of the business unit P&L, requirement forecasting, prepare annual/monthly budgets, scheduling expenditure, analyse variances, initiate corrective action Provision of strategic direction and leadership of all areas under operational control Translating goals and vision of the Client into service and team specific objectives and priorities and set the same within all areas of operational control Defining and delivering the necessary strategies for achieving these objectives, ensuring that these are suitably documented and communicated to staff Provision of advice and guidance to members of the senior management team and executive management team Demonstrating an in depth knowledge and expertise for all areas of operational control Working collaboratively within the Senior Management Team

Process ownership:

Overall responsibility for delivering efficient and effective processing and recording of customer contact transactions through an agreed set of service KPIs in a high volume environment Provision of a customer focused service to employees, clients, agencies, staff and other internal teams Identifying opportunities to further enhance systems and processes by making best use of available technologies Influencing and persuading to bring about change in own and business wide departments in a collaborative environment Implementing appropriate solutions to introduce, maintain and develop enhanced services and systems

People management:

Direct management responsibility for senior accountants, team managers and team leaders and overall responsibility for up to 150 staff across the teams Develop, lead and motivate the teams to deliver high standards of operational and performance excellence with a culture of best practice Provision of guidance, advice and support to team managers in both a managerial and technical capacity. This will include: Staff recruitment (advertising, shortlisting, interviewing and selecting) Staff development (identification of development needs, determination of appropriate training, monitoring of training effectiveness) Allocation of work (setting targets, monitoring progress, devising contingencies for situations where deadlines or service levels cannot be met) Act as a point of referral where staffing and management issues require escalation due to complexity or in disciplinary situations Ensure all users have the appropriate skills and knowledge to operate the systems by taking responsibility for embedding service excellence principles and securing best practice across the areas of operational control.

Person Specification

Experienced and time served Practice Manager/Operational lead Exceptional people skills and leadership qualities with the ability to inspire and engage employees Ability to initiate, take ownership and drive change Structural thinker and planner with strong business acumen and an analytical approach to problem solving Highly organised, self-motivated, collaborative, persuasive Practical experience of leading and delivering significant process and system changes Experience of leading senior mixed discipline teams ACCA/ACA qualified
