Our finance team provides valuable support to the Business Leaders of Grant Thornton, giving them, the information they need to monitor the Firms results and to achieve it's strategy for growth. We are part way through an exciting project to introduce a new finance platform and rethink the way finance provides support to the business and you will be part of this, in your role, within the Management Accounts team who provide vital accounting support to the business. We help to safeguard the Firm's assets and ensure our finance policies are applied by providing the necessary support and challenge to the business. Your work will contribute to the bigger picture and you will enjoy impacting on the success of our firm and shaping a vibrant economy. Job Description: What you'll be doing: * You will have a good basic understanding and keen interest in Tax and VAT legislation * You will work independently to interrogate the system, preparing meaningful tax analysis to support the Senior Accountant * You will actively manage the fixed assets registers and the related workflows for fixed assets, liaising with key clients to fully understand the nature of the additions, disposals and future projects * You will be happy to support the wider team workloads and perform reviews as required * You will have a desire to provide a good service to our Clients within the Firm and respond to queries in a timely manner * You will have an analytical and diligent mind and be keen to seek out new ways of working to ensure that your work is produced in the most efficient way possible, working with a new finance system will provide plenty of opportunities for sharing new ideas and new ways of working * You will be required to communicate concerns and escalate any challenges upwards in a timely fashion with the Senior Accountants * You will quickly be able to understand and apply our internal policies to ensure that controls are being followed * You will have great communication skills both written and verbal and be confident to use them * You will provide support and training to more junior members of the team * You will be keen to engage with other adhoc finance projects and tasks as the need arises * You will apply critical reasoning to bring clarity and insight to the work you are responsible for * You will do this by asking great questions and working with the Senior Accountants and the team's Clients to really understand what they want Who we're looking for: Qualified AAT or ACCA/ACA Part qualified (minimum criteria) You will already be working in a finance background and be able to demonstrate a good understanding of taxes and fixed asset accounts (minimum criteria) You will have strong technical skills and experience of providing clients and stakeholders with quality services and deliverables. You will have strong Excel skills and should be commercially focused with the ability to deliver innovative solutions. You should be focused on self-development as well as having the desire to coach, mentor and develop your colleagues.
