Amazon is currently looking for a proactive and result oriented Senior Financial Analyst to become a major contributor to our Accounting team based in Luxembourg. This position will work cross-functionally with key business partners and will represent the accounting organization to various stakeholders internally and externally. In addition, the position plays a critical role in monthly financial review responsibilities and statutory reporting. This role requires excellent communication and organization skills, including the ability to anticipate, identify and communicate risks to senior leadership, as well as a passion to continuously enhance processes and reduce manual efforts through automation or optimization initiatives. Candidates for this position will have a minimum of seven years professional experience in similar positions in larger public companies and/or public accounting firms. Candidate experience should cover accounting & financial reporting processes, monthly close cycle and related analytical analysis. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Conducting monthly, quarterly and yearly closing activities under US GAAP ensuring that relevant deadlines are met and looking for ways to continuously improve this process; • Preparation and review of various deliverables to support both internal and external financial reporting needs, including analytic commentary and the preparation of supplementary financial analysis for management and other stakeholders; • Preparation and review of financial statements under local GAAPs (mainly under IFRS and LUX GAAP), including the assessment and evaluation of GAAP to GAAP differences. • Dynamically engaging with a variety of business partners in the EU and globally, to maintain efficient and compliant accounting processes and effective controls and identify process improvement opportunities; • Actively participating in improvement initiatives, standardization, re-engineering of processes and controls, and implementation of best practices, working closely with systems teams and demonstrating strong understanding of financial accounting systems • Actively participating in cross functional project launches from scoping through to testing and launch; • Conducting thorough analysis of complex accounting issues and preparing technical position papers. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS • Minimum 7+ years of experience with an emphasis on accounting, preferably partly gained within a top-tier audit company and/or working for a medium to large international company, in a fast-paced and changing environment; • Degree in Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related field • ACCA, ACA, CPA or similar credentials • Deep knowledge of US GAAP or IFRS and strong understanding of statutory filings and their related requirements • Demonstrated history of solving multiple and complex operational and accounting challenges with excellent analytical skills • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Fluent in business English. • A strong desire to exceed expectations, with a hands on, can-do attitude and ability to think outside the box • Excellent interpersonal skills, convincing personality and ability to work both independently and as a team-player • Detail-oriented yet able to reflect on and understand the big picture; • Proactive, and results-driven, ability to correctly set priorities and meet challenging deadlines; • Applying knowledge of multiple reporting systems to deliver solutions. This requires advanced computer literacy (MS Office, especially Excel) and the aptitude to understand system dependencies; • Demonstrating strong technical accounting skills required in order to arrive to and document accounting conclusions PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Advanced Excel skills (use of advanced formulas, macros, shortcuts) and a passion to use these skills to optimize / improve processes or to create automated reports • A natural desire to challenge the status quo, and demonstrated ability to effectively turn improvement ideas into reality • Comfortable working in cross-functional teams and in a fast paced company
