The Company
A highly successful, independent business headquartered in Stevenage with a newly created opportunity for a Financial Controller to take full responsibility for the finance function of a recently acquired subsidiary.
The Job
Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be given a high level of autonomy as Financial Controller, with your key responsibilities including:
* Completion of the monthly management accounts for specific core cost centres.
* Budgeting and forecasting processes, including monthly profitability and variance analysis.
* To act as line-manager to the Finance team and to supervise the work of the Finance team.
* To take responsibility for the production of year-end financial statements.
* To liaise with the auditors and other professional advisors.
* To manage and develop financial systems.
* To develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
* To oversee all activities related to HMRC tax compliance issues.
* Other ad hoc tasks when required.
The Candidate
We are looking for a fully qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA Accountant for the Financial Controller position, ideally with post qualified experience in a similar level role within an SME business. You will be part of the executive management team of the organisation and therefore we are looking for a strong degree of commercial acumen, as well as the technical accounting skills and staff management experience associated with an autonomous leadership role
