Rutherford Briant are currently recruiting for an Audit Supervisor to join a Top 30 Practice. Role Overview The role of a Supervisor is a significant career stage normally achieved as a result of an individual proving consistently strong technical, job management and client relationship skills at Senior level. This stage of career development tests the individual's ability to 'juggle oranges': reviewing and finalising files for team leader/partner review whilst overseeing the team's range of assignments and monitoring work in progress. The role is also suitable for those working in a specialist role in support of a partner, director or manager The portfolio will include clients of various sizes across multiple industries, both corporate and not-for-profit Principle Responsibilities: To assist a team leader of a large or specialist client portfolio in the planning, control and review of larger, more complex assignments. To ensure assignments are progressing competently and in line with commercial targets set. To complete client assignment files for minimal team leader or partner review. To act as the main client contact on behalf of a team leader/partner for selected client assignments. To supervise the team including monitoring work in progress and compliant work standards. To motivate and mentor the team by effective communication, constructive work assignment feedback and effective job appraisal. To assist the team leader in team communications including identifying problems and suggesting solutions To assist the team leader (exceptionally a partner) to help clear client correspondence and client queries. To respond effectively to all routine tax compliance matters occurring within the client assignments. To be consistently competent in the assessment of materiality and risk as demonstrated by effective assignment planning with the team leader/partner. To identify client work requiring specialist skills Displays strong and pro-active awareness of current legislation and changes, relating them where appropriate to client assignments. To demonstrate the skills of planning, delegation and control in supervising a range of work assignments.
