Description

As an Accountant / Cost Analyst based from the Woking, Surrey office you will be responsible for the following responsibilities. Our client realises this is a broad brief but some of the responsibilities will be future development opportunities.

Day to day

  • Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, perpetual inventory integrity, fixes asset records, general & entity accounting and cost accounting.
  • Responsible for all cost accounting activities to include but not limited to purchase order price variances, labour variances, work-in-process, inventory tracking, and labor collection/shop floor control systems.
  • Complete operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees, individually and through direct reports; conduct follow up on work results; foster a collaborative environment.
  • Develops and maintains manuals and forms to ensure accounting functions are standardized and processes are well documented.

Reporting

  • Develop, improve and issue timely monthly financial records using the Access reporting system to make best use of its functionality.
  • Work with the CFO to agree a working format for management reporting along with business unit managers.
  • Work with the CFO to complete all necessary related reporting as directed and ensure that the Plans and Forecasts are both realistic and meet investment return objectives.
  • Attend management forums to understand how to measure and evaluate company financial performance by analyzing business operations, trends, cost, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations,
  • Coordinate period reports representing budget costs to actual; work with department heads to ensure budgetary constraints are maintained.

Forecasting and Budgets

  • Assist the CFO to prepare the annual plan, quarterly forecasts and comparison of actual or forecasted performance to Plan, Forecast, or prior periods as requested.
  • Establish labour and overhead standards while working with manufacturing, engineering and purchasing to set all product standard costs and ongoing cost estimates.

Stock and Systems

  • Coordination of the physical inventory per the inventory instructions. Prepare the inventory valuation and reconciliation - book to perpetual for both the month end and the annual physical inventory.
  • Be the lead system expert, maximizing resources available to facilitate decision-making on financial issues, provide timely and accurate information on financial and other resource issues. This includes the review and approval of any financial arrangements, agreements etc. being considered by the Business.
  • Work with the CFO to prepare Product cost analysis and detail product and job cost review with Workshop teams in an effort to control costs

Strategic and Analysis

  • Safeguards assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal reconciliations, controls and checks across all departments.
  • Ensure proper financial controls, systems and decision tools are in place and used focusing on strategic procurement plans and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Work with CFO to assure financial plans are consistent with organizational goals; monitor operations to ensure accounting needs and recommends solutions to business financial challenges.
  • Support the CFO to provide financial analysis to evaluate company events or special projects, customer programs, capital expenditures, products costing, etc. when necessary.
  • Work with CFO to prepare, examine, or analyse accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.

Profile

  • Experience covering the above responsibilities as closely as possible, some cost accounting, reporting experience would be useful but not essential
  • You do not have to have experience covering all of the responsibilities. Our client realises this is a broad brief but some of the responsibilities will be future development opportunities.
  • Intermediate/Advanced Excel skills Access Supply Chain ERP system experience is desirable but not essential
  • A candidate with a proactive approach and a willingness to learn would fit in well with the team
  • Strong communication skills ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders and varying levels throughout the business

Job Offer

£30,000 - £35,000, 21 days holiday, including a day off for your birthday, Pension is 1:1, hours are 8.30am-5pm Monday to Friday, Free Parking onsite and Progression Opportunities
