Job Description

Assistant Accountant within the Corporate Reporting team. Role has responsibility for investment and foreign exchange analysis and reporting. Role also extends into preparation and support of annual statutory financial statement preparation cycle. The Opportunity: The role involves being a member of a team of finance professionals supporting the production and delivery of financial reporting data within QBE European Operations, and ensuring the accuracy, timeliness and integrity of reporting to our Australian parent company, local boards and audit committee and other stakeholders. The role supports a number of monthly and quarterly deliverables across the team, including investment portfolio analysis and reporting, foreign exchange analysis and hedging, and supports production and review of annual statutory financial statements. It includes working with stakeholders across European Finance and Tax, Group Finance and external auditors. Your responsibilities for this role may include, but are not limited to: * Support analysis and reporting of investment portfolios, including reporting to the Investment Committee on portfolio performance, compliance and risk metrics. * Support foreign exchange hedging and review processes, including analysis of actual results to identify hedging effectiveness and reporting to senior finance stakeholders. * Supporting the preparation, review and audit of annual financial statements for entities within the QBE Europe group. * Supporting the preparation and reporting of monthly and quarterly and monthly finance deliverables. * Analysing, co-ordinating and responding to queries and ad-hoc requests from stakeholders. * Involved in projects and system improvements. * Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including senior staff within finance, risk and actuarial. * Review existing processes to assess the adequacy of information; support changes required to implement improvements. You will need to be able to display you have the following knowledge, skills and experience: * Part qualified ACA, ACCA or equivalent. * Some familiarity with investment and foreign exchange concepts * Experience with statutory financial reporting. * Similar experience gained within the financial services industry. * Strong planning and organisational skills including managing multiple tasks simultaneously and co-ordinating with other stakeholders within timetables and deadlines. * Ability to clearly communicate and influence key stakeholders, including senior finance members. * Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and vlookups; ability to analyse, interpret and communicate financial data.
