Leading FMCG business in Milton Keynes are on the lookout for an experienced Cost Accountant to join their team.

Client Details

We are partnering exclusively with a leading FMCG business in Milton Keynes. A internal promotion has created the opportunity for an experienced Cost Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis.

Description

Cost Accountant Responsibilities:

• Review Material Price Variances and Purchase Price Variances, and process all necessary corrective journals.
• Calculate standard labour cost and labour recovery, and post relevant journals.
• Perform month end stock reconciliations and create journals to adjust stock.
• Process shop floor timesheets, and post overtime and temp accruals.
• Track changes in Slow Moving and Obsolete Stock, and calculate provisions required.
• Manage the Standard Product Costing of all inventory items, and oversee the running of the Standard Costing System.
• Work closely with Procurement to ensure that material costs are accurately recorded for standard costing purposes.
• Manage the approval of standard costs for any new parts set up.
• Review and monitor Works Orders and liaise with Production to ensure they are updated and closed correctly.
• Manage the Standard Cost Roll process, and co-ordinate the review and update of all Standards.
• Update and maintain the Standard Costing Company Procedures.
• Assist in the planning and co-ordination of physical inventory counts and improve methods for inventory control.
• Periodically attend stock counts to ensure they represent what is physically held and that the adjusting journals are correctly transacted.
• Monitor third party and consignment stock, and ensure provisions are on the right levels.
• Ensure compliance related to movement of goods.
• Liaise with internal and external auditors during audit.

Profile

Cost Accountant Requirements:

• Be part qualified in ACCA or CIMA
• Be an excellent communicator
• Have strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
• Experience with several accounting systems
• Have positive attitude
• Have a strong accounting background
