Manager, Investments
InvesTT Limited (InvesTT) was established as the national investment promotion agency (IPA) aligned under the Ministry of Trade and Industry. The overarching goal of the organisation is to implement government investment policy, act as the point of access for potential foreign investors in all sectors of the economy and facilitate all requirements, including regulatory approvals necessary to establish a business. A key objective of InvesTT is to assist the government in its thrust to diversify the economy by attracting FDI into non-energy industries. In addition, the organisation facilitates local reinvestment through the facilitation of services, which include issue resolution, advisory services, the creation of business linkages, real estate services, opportunity identification and policy advocacy.
The position of Manager, Investments reports to the Vice President, Investments. This position focuses on the management of the streamlined inbound and strategic outbound sourcing of foreign direct investment for Trinidad and Tobago. The role is responsible for directly identifying, soliciting, negotiating and closing new investments in Trinidad and Tobago. The incumbent will be required to direct staff to attract new investors towards making an initial site visit to Trinidad and Tobago, as well as outwardly target and respond to incoming investment interest followed. The incumbent will also be required to identify new investment opportunities for Trinidad and Tobago as well as to advocate for policies to improve Trinidad and Tobago's value proposition in all subsectors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1.
Vision/Strategy Development and Execution
* Manage the evaluation of investment opportunities to ensure that they meet InvesTT investment criteria, as well as contribute positively to the sustainable economic development of Trinidad and Tobago.
2.
Innovation, Growth and Organisational Capacity
* Coach, develop and manage the performance of all Investment Officers to support the delivery of business targets, while responding to incoming investor requests for information and referrals according to pre-determined protocols and standards.
3.
Customer-Stakeholder Management
* Advocate for policies with the Government of Trinidad and Tobago to aid in the improvement of Trinidad and Tobago's value proposition in respective sectors.
* Identify new investment opportunities through collaboration with other areas of InvesTT as well as external stakeholders.
4.
Financial Stewardship
* Directly target and attract new investors to Trinidad and Tobago toward a successful site visit and further to securing the investment.
* Deliver site visit and investment targets for Trinidad and Tobago within specifically identified sub-sectors.
5.
Internal Business Processes
* Prepare reports necessary for upper management, Board and Ministry.
Competencies
A.
Education /Qualifications
* Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management or related discipline.
* Master's degree and/or MBA would be an asset.
B.
Experience
* At least seven (7) years' relevant working experience preferred.
* Private sector experience
* Experience in the start-up or expansion process of companies would be an asset
* Demonstrable experience in engaging investors
