Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) is responsible for managing the Group’s relationships with major corporate and government clients and institutional investors, and provides a full range of capital raising, transactional and risk management products and services.

The division also performs an important internal role for the Group by providing FICC market, equity derivatives, lending and capital market and transaction banking execution capabilities to other CBA business units that allows them to capture opportunities with business customers.

Global Client Solutions (GCS) leads banking relationship management and the provision of transaction banking, risk management and capital solutions to our clients. The team’s purpose is to provide IB&M clients with solutions across the financing spectrum to support their strategic objectives.

GCS operates in six industry eco-systems: Technology Media Health & Education; Banks & Government; Non-Bank Financial Institutions; Industrials Transport & Consumer; Real Estate & Infrastructure; and Natural Resources and Energy; and Transactional Banking; all supported by the Chief Operating Office (COO).

Do work that matters:

As a 1st Line of Accountability (1LoA) specialist for Global Client Solutions, the Risk & Control Advisory & Delivery team is responsible for ensuring that strong controls are in place and decisions are well informed, timely. You will achieve this through providing an end to end risk and control support, including the effective design & implementation of controls, ensuring the operational risk & compliance frameworks are implemented effectively and adhered to ongoing and also ensuring the Global Client Solutions Leadership Tea, has confidence in and governance of within their risk and control environment.

A key responsibility for this role includes:

  • Establish, lead and hold overall accountability and oversight to ensure Global Client Solutions has appropriately managed its risk and control environment, driving a proactive risk and control culture.
  • Review and provide expert guidance to ensure effective design of controls for all new and changing processes including initial testing of the design effectiveness; handover assurance to a central assurance team ensuring that key operational risks are being appropriately mitigated impacting the Global Client Solutions business.
  • Timely identification, documentation, assessment (including root cause analysis) and resolution of issues and incidents. Ensure Risks are profiled and captured in the Risk Profile (RCSA) and updated when trigger events occur
  • Engage with business leaders and Line 2 to determine and recommend optimal course of action to remediate issues and incidents
  • Consult on and provide expert input to risk and controls during the strategic planning process and drive risk thinking through strong challenge and collaboration with divisional leadership
  • Accountable for establishing and delivering risk management governance and reporting for Global Client Solutions Non Financial Risk Management Committee and LT meetings, with associated insights and recommendations
  • Lead and build capability of a team of Controls Office generalists to ensure all relevant functions are covered, from Control Enablement, Strategy Governance and Reporting

We're interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Deep understanding of the Operational Risk Framework and Compliance Framework is advantageous
  • Ability to identify gaps in a process flow from one system to another.
  • Manage systems and data to reveal insights and to determine courses of action
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in banking/financial service/other relevant industry, and/or minimum 4 years’ experience in Operational Risk management roles.
