The CommSec Controls Office is responsible for ensuring the proactive management of risk and controls across CommSec. This includes including undertaking early identification of emerging risks, controls testing, risk remediation, vendor management, governance and assurance and root cause analysis.
The CommSec Controls Office is also responsible for leading CommSec’s Financial Crimes Compliance and Privacy (Hastings) program.
Do work that matters:
The role will have responsibility for developing, implementing and maintaining the governance and frameworks for CommSec’s risk management practices. The role will also look to identify process improvement opportunities across CommSec where there is a risk management or risk policy dimension, and support the Executive Manager, CommSec Line 1 Risk in developing the effectiveness of the line 1 function.
Successful execution of the CommSec Line 1 Risk objectives allows CommSec the confidence that risk related items will be identified and managed to allow the business to focus on and achieve its strategic objectives
A key responsibility for this role includes:
- Assisting and supporting the Executive Manager Line 1 Risk to execute the team strategy to support risk management objectives across CommSec.
- Managing the CommSec governance forums including production and coordination of reporting and undertaking investigation and assessment. Building out and enhancing the quality and insight provided in Line 1 Risk reporting.
- Leading the preparation of CommSec NFRC and CommSec Board papers reporting on the key elements of the operational risk management framework and material matters within CommSec
- BROP CommSec Line 1 Risk lead, ensuring BROP deliverable are adequately implemented within CommSec
- Managing the control assurance program, including coordination and monitoring of control testing and compliance reviews across CommSec.
- Managing the risk & control self-assessment processes (RCSA) across CommSec, coordinating with business and Line 2 risk teams, including risks related to new products and new business activities.
- Coordinating assessment of the business impact of legislative change and ensure accountability are in place to implement required changes.
- Investigating and assessing topical risk and control issues, providing advice on risk mitigation strategies and reporting recommendations to management and appropriate governance forums.
- Proactively coordinating the business response to incidents, crisis management and remediation of issues.
- Encourage innovation and improvement within the team, assessing and providing feedback on the quality of suggestions.
We're interested in hearing from people who have:
- Stockbroking or financial services industry in a governance, operational risk, compliance or audit capacity.
- Proactive and self-starting individual with strong analytical capabilities, attention to detail and excellent communication (verbal/written) skills.
- Excellent written reporting skills, and the ability to discern insights from data.
- Experience and understanding of governance, risk management and compliance concepts processes.
- Analytical capability (SQL/Tableau/Alteryx) Desirable.
