Client Details

Our client is a large university based in Central London.

Description

The key responsibilities of the Business Partner role include:

  • Regular meetings with Budget holders, acting as the first point of contact for financial support and training

  • Support local decision making with the production of reports as required

  • Additional support to departmental budget holders, Finance Manager, Professional Services and Head of Department as required

  • Coordination and consolidation of the annual budget, including appropriate communication to relevant stakeholders

  • Coordination and consolidation of regular forecast updates, variance compared to budget analysis and written commentary

  • Coordination and provision of appropriate monthly management information on key financial metrics and performance indicators along with accompanying analysis for a range of stakeholders

  • Produce an analysis on projects financial processes to ensure alignment between project governance, divisional budgets and project budgets

  • Work with Project Management Office to ensure localised project reporting is fit for purpose and accurately reflects the financial position, risk and opportunity within budgets

  • Align processes between project governance and budgets, to ensure that decisions are made in accordance with the budgets, and that financial impacts are reflected accurately and in a timely manner

  • Reconcile and track the project financial's throughout the month, investigating differences as appropriate and instigate follow up actions as required

  • Provide review and critical challenge to Project financial projections and decisions, and ensure assumptions are consistent across the Programme

  • Ensure that spend to date, projected spend and commitments are transparent to relevant stakeholders, escalating as necessary

  • Confirmation of financial approval for staff appointments to posts in line with budgets

  • Liaison representative with Internal and External Audit as required

Profile

The successful candidate must have the following experience:

  • Business Partnering - liaising with IT partners, service managers and stakeholders to formally discuss budget and budgetary constrictions
  • Forecasting and Management Accounts
  • Reconciling Balance sheets and variance analysis
  • Delivery of the Month End process

  • Leading meetings with budget holders of different levels of seniority
  • Working collaboratively with Team members and other Teams
  • Working in a management accounting or auditing environment, within a large and complex organisation
