Financial Accountant, Insurance & IFRS17

The Role:

A very exciting opportunity has been made available for a Big 4 first time mover or experienced Financial Accountant to contribute & implement IFRS17/ AASB17 across the business by providing excellent financial advice and technical accounting support and guidance to the Group, including upholding the financial integrity and profitability of the company. Along with this, you will be in charge of owning the monthly, quarterly & yearly financial reporting and working closely with a variety of stakeholders across the business.

At present, we are seeking expressions of interest to join our candidate and contractor talent pool in order to be considered for any future roles (subject to client instructions and/or approval).

Responsibilities:

• Meet monthly Financial Half Year and Year End reporting requirements & assist external auditors at Half Year and Year End
• Establish and implement new internal processes and controls, engaging with stakeholders to develop robust & efficient processes across business units in response to the new accounting standards
• Assist with the preparation of Half and Year End Statutory reports (Financial Statements; APRA/ ASX submissions) including the Group cash flow statement
• Submission, writing & drafting of technical accounting papers covering the implementation of new accounting standards (IFRS17)
• Provide ad hoc analysis to meet the needs of the business and external reporting requirements
• Manage the implementation of new processes and procedures to adapt to these changes
• Manage and support the team to build a team of staff that work cohesively in a high performance environment, whilst guiding the team in their career development

Key Requirements:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications and CA/CPA Qualified
• Big 4 Audit Background with insurance clients OR 4+ years commercial insurance exposure Highly desirable
• Excellent understanding of accounting standards (IFRS & AASB) essential, IFRS 17 exposure desirable
• Strong understanding of risks impacting financial reporting and the broader business
• Strong stakeholder management & ability to collaborate and work strongly in a team environment

Salary Range: $110,000 - $120,000 + Superannuation
