Position Overview
The Dolomite Group is hiring a Staff Accountant that will report to the Business Analyst. This position will be responsible for various accounting tasks, including but not limited to: inventory management, processing production transactions, logging cash activity, performing bank account reconciliations, and other tasks as needed. The successful candidate will work closely with the Finance and Operations teams, including the Controller, Assistant Controller, and Operations Managers, to analyze and explain operating results, help with budgeting and forecasting, and assist in various projects as needed. Candidates should possess strong time management, analytical, and communication skills, as well as an ability to manage ambiguity and deadlines effectively without sacrificing quality of work.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) Inventory Management:
  • Daily posting of production and material usage inventory entries
  • Weekly posting of fuel usage entries and accruals
  • Periodic standard cost review for inventoried materials
  • Month–end analysis of physical–to–book inventory variances
  • Booking of month–end inventory adjustments and communication to Operations Management to investigate unusual/sizable variances
  • Performance of monthly inventory reconciliation reports
Cash Management:
  • Logging of all check/cash batch totals posted by Accounts Receivable department
  • Performance of monthly account reconciliations for all active bank accounts
  • Filing and organization of Accounts Receivable entries and support documentation
Construction Accounting:
  • Monthly review of construction jobs and posting of revenue entries
  • Monthly attendance of a meeting with Construction Department staff
  • Review and analysis of monthly reports
Additional Tasks:
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes throughout the year
  • Coordinate with operating units to ensure accurate information reported for budgeting purposes
  • Ad hoc projects and assignments as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co–workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Environmental, Health & Safety Manual.
  • Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all Dolomite Company employees
  • Strict adherence to Dolomite's policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Manual.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co–workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required
  • Associate's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field plus 2+ years of relevant work experience acceptable
Work Requirements
  • Individual must possess a working knowledge and understanding of accounting concepts, including P&L's and relevant balance sheet accounts. Must demonstrate strong numerical skills and the ability to analyze data and draw conclusions. Attention to detail and presentation of the work product to a high standard is required.
  • Individual must possess a questioning mind and the ability to think independently. Ability to challenge situations in a constructive manner and present reasonable alternatives. Must possess superior problem–solving skills: ability to identify and investigate potential problems with respect to accounting and internal control issues.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
  • Individual must possess strong computer skills and be proficient with Windows, Excel and Word.
  • Ability to work under pressure and with time constraints
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting
