VP – Senior Specialist Technical Business Analyst (SSTBA)

POSITION SUMMARYKey attributes for this role are strong problemsolving, communication and skills coupled with team–oriented mindset andability to work well with demanding business clients in a deadline–drivenenvironment. The SSTBA isresponsible for defining requirements and designing solutions using an agiledelivery methodology for some of the Bank's most important investment managerclients in the Asset Servicing space. The SSTBA consults with stakeholder to analyze,define, challenge and prioritizes the business requirement, functionalspecifications an operational architecture for a functional work stream withina highly complex strategic, global program. Formulates and definesprogram scope and objectives for the work stream with thorough understanding ofbusiness processes in a specific business domain. Tailors standardprocesses and templates for team to elicit, challenge and prioritizerequirements, and translates into functional design and use case models. Develops project scope, objectives, constraints and assumption for large–scalemulti–year programs. Prepares and manages the project plan, issues andrisks, and is accountable for overall delivery of the assigned functions and workstreams within the program. Provides guidance in development of thetechnical design, test plans, and user documentation. Leadsimplementation & conversion strategy planning and execution. Managesscope and change throughout the initiative utilizing formal change control andrequirements traceability. Gathers, analyzes, and develops options toaddress strategic business objectives that span multiple, global business andtechnology areas. Uses experience to inform various systems developmentprocesses to define success criteria and speed time to market. Owns the successof the overall program and client implementation. Participates in solvingtime–sensitive issues in a complex business systems environment (supportingFront Office deliverables and SLAs)

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES.
  • Develops business analysis using JIRAto drive requirements and solutions

  • Analyzescomplex client requirements and develop high level solutions in collaborationwith engineering and product teams

  • Analyzesinterfaces between systems, internal and external. Knowledge of systeminterface protocols is helpful.

  • Takesownership of BDD scenarios for the product and support test driven development.This requires a good understanding of Test Driven Development and BehaviorDriven Development including creation of test data – inputs for variousscenarios along with expected outputs

  • Responsiblefor working with Scrum Masters and Service/Business Owners in featureprioritization

  • Definesrequirements in the form of user stories with acceptance criteria

  • Participatesin the end–to–end project delivery process, from requirements gathering,working closely with Engineering, through testing and post–implementation issueresolution

  • Determineand suggest features and enhancements to existing offerings

  • Providesguidance to other junior business analysts and product team members as needed

  • Knowledgeof logical data models to be able to analyze and enhance existing canonicalstructures and schema

  • Understandingof various asset classes and associated attributes

  • Continuously improves processes andsolutions to drive down maintenance cost and improve stability of service

  • Reviews requirements prior to releaseto ensure adherence to best practices.

  • Operatingas a good citizen in a robust agile development delivery framework

  • Providewell thought–out and lasting solutions that are documented and supportable

Prepares and manages the project plan,issues and risks, and is accountable for overall delivery of their assignedfunctional work stream on a large–scale program. Provides guidance indevelopment of the technical design, test plans, and user documentation. Leadsimplementation/conversion strategy planning and implementation. Manages scopeand change throughout the initiative utilizing formal change control andrequirements traceability. Gathers and analyzes information and developsrecommendations to address strategic business objectives that span multiple,global business and technology areas. Participates in industry forums and keepscurrent on domain knowledge for their specific business and application areasof expertise. Applies experiences across various software and/or systemsdevelopment processes to define and collect metrics and identify and implementopportunities for improvement to increase quality of requirements and speedtime–to–market. Contributes to the achievement of related areaobjectives.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in business or technical–related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, advanced degree preferred, 8–10 years of experience in providing consulting advice to senior IT and business management required, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a VERY STRONG plus.


    • Preferred 7+ years in Middle Office with buy and sell side experience
    • High Threshold level understanding of Back Office / Trade processing business
    • Experience of working in a high–pressure environment alongside business users
    • SQL and data analysis
    • Strong agile project leadership using JIRA and other collaborative tools, with knowledge of design patterns and where and when to apply them.

  • Broad Understanding of post trade processing activities


  • ESSENTIAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

    • Deeply skilled in middle office asset servicing processing across all asset classes and

    • Comfort level writing and manipulating SQL across large, complex relational databases
    • Experience writing JIRA business stories, test driven development methods & working knowledge of application frameworks as part of an agile development and delivery process.
    • Data analysis using Excel, Excel macros and add–ins

    • High level knowledge of programming is helpful, nice to have
