The Staff Accountant II is responsible for handling the accounting functions for the Company. These functions include journal entries, account analysis and reconciliations, month–end financial statements, payroll processing, AP & AR, and other reporting. The Staff Accountant II will work closely with the CFO. Duties and Responsibilities Follow Semaphore's established accounting processes. Provide detailed analyses and explanations of all transactions. Maintains and balances Semaphore's consolidation system by inputting data; scheduling required jobs; verifying data. Prepare and post general entries and month–end closing journal entries for Company's books. Prepare account analyses and month–end reconciliations, including bank reconciliations. Prepare other supporting schedules, including but not limited to, cash flow reports, Company budgets, A/R reports, A/P reports, variance analysis, etc. Maintain the fixed asset and associated depreciation schedules; ensure proper recording of new purchases and disposals. Prepare all required financial statements, including, but not limited to, balance sheets, income statements, and statements of cash flows. Process payroll and contractor's payments for Company employees and vendors. Work within the workflow to ensure payroll is processed accurately and in a timely manner. Ensure proper taxation of Company paid benefits for employees Working knowledge of quarterly and annual payroll fillings. Research and correct account discrepancies. Collections on past due accounts receivable. Assist with audits. Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential. Ad hoc analysis and other duties as assigned. Skills Must be a perfectionist by nature, maintaining error–free financials. Must be detail–oriented and perform self–review of work product Must be highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data. Must have excellent writing and communication skills. "Street smart" / able to think on your feet. Effective verbal skills. Must always be friendly and willing to assist others. A good memory for data and details. Must be punctual and able to work flexible hours. Be a good listener and exhibit sound judgment. Desire to work in a fast–paced job environment. Able to critically analyze situations and solve problems effectively. Requirements Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance Required. 3 – 5 years of accounting and bookkeeping experience. Experienced in QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online. Exceptionally strong MS office skills especially Excel. Need to be well organized with a proven ability of successfully juggling multiple assignments and a strong track record of meeting deadlines. Highly motivated
