Internal Audit Manager
Job Purpose The Internal Audit Manager is responsible for supporting the provision of appropriate assurance to the StarStone Boards and Audit Committees on the adequacy and effectiveness of the organisation's internal control environment. Key Accountabilities / Deliverables Specific responsibilities: The Internal Audit Manager is responsible for supporting the provision of appropriate assurance to the StarStone Group's Board and Audit Committee on the adequacy and effectiveness of the organisation's internal control environment by: ?? Supporting the Head of Internal Audit with: o Development of Annual Internal Audit Plan; o Preparation of Board and Committee Reporting; o Attendance of Board and Committee Reporting as a substitute for the Head of Audit where necessary o Remediation Tracking; o Providing an independent and objective opinion on risk management, control, and governance of the StarStone Group; o Ongoing development of the Internal Audit Function, including process improvements, and maintenance of internal policies, procedures and templates; o Building and maintaining Internal Audit's presence and reputation across the Group through effective business partnering. ?? Conducting internal audits across the StarStone Group, primarily focusing on the US entities, in line with the Audit Plan. The role covers all aspects of the successful delivery of internal audits, including: o Carrying out, leading or supporting assigned business audit engagements. (leading where we use co–source arranegments). o Ensuring the successful and timely completion of reviews, from initial scoping and planning through to reporting and follow up of management action plans. o Performing audit activities to a high standard, in accordance with the StarStone Internal Audit methodology and professional standards. o Performing analysis of business data to support effective planning and focused audit testing. o Identifying and testing key risks and controls. o Effective stakeholder and relationship management at all levels during the audit. o Agreeing effective and pragmatic management action plans to address issues and add value to the business. ?? Providing consultancy and advisory services to departments and businesses across the groups on policies and procedures, the operation of internal controls, risk management and other areas as requested by management. ?? Ensuring effective risk management and performance of internal control activities relevant to the role. Technical Knowledge and Understanding ?? Understanding of IIA Standards of Professional Practice. ?? Strong knowledge of risk management, technical auditing and accounting concepts, business processes and internal control systems. ?? Sound understanding of relevant regulations / best practice control models (NAIC, Solvency II, Sarbanes–Oxley, COSO etc.). ?? Sound understanding of the insurance industry in the US and London Market Experience ?? ACA, CPA, or IIA Qualified ?? Track record of delivering results in an external audit, internal audit or internal control assurance capacity including: o external or internal audit experience; o risk and controls analysis; o knowledge and experience in developing; executing and managing audit reviews; o process Improvements; o staff management; o process documentation and report writing. ?? Experience in financial services specifically insurance. ?? Sarbanes–Oxley Experience ?? Experience in IT systems and CAATs is a plus.
