MANAGER - FINANCE & CORPORATE PLANNING
Our Client, a State Enterprise, is seeking to fill the position of Manager, Finance & Corporate Planning. This position is offered as a three (3) year contract.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Manager-Finance and Corporate Planning will be responsible for ensuring that there are effective financial and accounting system controls and standards in place to treat with the accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, tax compliance, investments, insurance and audit functions of the organization. This position also leads the development and implementation of the strategic planning and reporting framework, directs implementation of corporate planning processes and facilitates the preparation of divisional and branch plans which align with the corporate plan. Additionally, the incumbent must lead the investigation, analysis and assessment of risk, and the design and implementation of strategies and processes which mitigate threats to the successful delivery of the organisation's corporate and business plans.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Management
* Provides financial information to meet the needs of the Board, the President and all senior managers including customized financial reports, costing templates, trend analysis on an as needed, monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
* Ensures that all necessary accounting policies, procedure/manual and accounting best practices are up to date and implemented. Also ensure that all reports provide an accurate and current reflection of the company's financial position.
* Ensures that the maintenance of all accounting and financial records conform to accepted accounting principles.
* Leads the annual budgeting process.
* Manages the organization's investment and cash portfolios, determine its cash flow needs and have oversight of all bank accounts and investment vehicles to maintain adequate working capital while maximizing the rate of return.
* Oversees audit and tax functions, coordinate activities with outside audit/accounting firms and review firms' performance.
* Develops, implements and maintains a pricing model that will form the basis for costing projects.
* Performs special studies, such as debt service management, cash flow analysis and project budgeting.
* Reviews and update the structure of the Finance Department; steer and manage the financial team of approximately 15 people.
Corporate Planning
* Provides strategic advice and high quality tools to the Senior Executive Management Team and the Board to enable a shared understanding of best practices in strategic planning and to ensure that planning outcomes are highly effective and well aligned with the direction and objectives of the company.
* Directs the alignment of corporate reporting systems, identification of key performance indicators and high level targets, communication and promotional strategies and processes for review and evaluation, to facilitate the identification of variations from planned outcomes and the implementation of the required remedial actions.
* Source and/or directs the conduct of research into political, legislative, economic, social, technological, business and industry trends and analyse and interpret strategic trends to identify likely impacts on the company's decision making and strategic planning processes.
* Facilitates the strategic review and planning processes by providing operational leadership, to enable the development of aligned and integrated divisional/business plans.
* Identifies opportunities and drive changes to improve implementation and evaluation of strategic and business planning processes in the organisation to enable better performance tracking and reporting capacity.
Risk Management
* Reviews and update the enterprise risk management policy for the company.
* Develops and implement the company's risk management plan and strategy, communicate expectations and obligations through senior executives and managers. Deliver regular risk analysis reports to the Senior Executive Team and the Board, complete with actionable plans for avoidance or prevention of possible threats at all levels.
* Guides the integration of the enterprise risk management function with other organizational planning and management activities.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
* BSc in Accounting or a Professional Accounting Certification (e.g. CPA, ACCA, CMA).
* MBA + 8 years or 12 years with progressive experience in accounting or related business field of which at least 5 years must be at a managerial level.
