Staff Accountant The Jacobson Company is a privately held multifamily investment and management firm. Located in Los Angeles, our company history spans more than 50 years of experience acquiring and successfully operating multifamily and student housing properties throughout the Western United States. Our current portfolio consists of more than 2,100 units across multiple communities throughout California, Washington, Colorado and Texas. The Staff Accountant will act as primary accounting contact for multifamily properties ranging from 75–250 units each. Regular day to day will involve general accounting tasks such as accounts receivable collections, payable processing, journal entry recording, property level accruals and bank reconciliations questions. Primary responsibilities: Perform the monthly close process, including preparing reconciliation schedules, supporting schedules and generating reports for file retention. Perform data entry and updates to the Yardi Voyager system for accounting entries. Provide variance reports to property management team and compile for reporting. Review and code Accounts Payable invoices weekly/daily and ensure timely payment. Assist property management teams to resolve issues regarding payables, receivables and stale checks. Ensure all appropriate support properly filed. Assist in preparation of Fixed Asset Schedules and entering depreciation entries. Maintain monthly Utility expense and Occupancy schedules pertaining to assigned properties. Prepare schedules for property and income tax filings. Requirements and Qualifications: A minimum of an associate degree required, with a focus in accounting. Must have several years of Yardi Voyager experience. Minimum of 3 years' experience in property accounting. Effective communication and interpersonal skills coupled with the ability to resolve difficult situations and conflicts effectively. Proficiency with word processing, database and spreadsheet packages, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel. Self–confident individual that can operate independently and formulate sound decisions. Ability to handle multiple tasks, deal with diverse problems, work under pressure, and meet deadlines. LOCATION: This position is based out of our corporate office in West Los Angeles.
