My client, a leading engineering company based in Wokingham are looking to recruit a Financial Controller on a full time permanent basis.

The Financial Controller will be working within a small Finance team consisting of an additional 3 members of staff and reporting directly to the Managing Director.

SCOPE:
  • To manage the all accounting aspects for the day to day functions of the business.
  • Cash-flow management including paying Payroll, paying suppliers, processing all customer receipts and day-to-day cash management.
  • Production of Management Accounts in a timely manner.
  • Managing and reconciling all payments to HMRC, plus any required reports.
  • To comply with all legal & fiscal requirements.
  • Managing and purchasing various currencies when needed.
  • Preparing data for the monthly salary run.
  • Helping to prepare for annual R&D tax credits.
  • Managing small Accounts team.
  • Reporting to the parent company daily reports, monthly forecasts and quarterly data.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Monthly Requirements


Produce Management Accounts.

Monthly journals and accruals/prepayments

Complete Sales Report to Management team

Complete Sales Area Report and produce sales commission schedule for payroll purposes.

Process Expenses by credit card and ensure all receipts received and VAT claimed correctly.

EC Sales Report to Government.

Goods received/ not invoiced reconciliation.

Stock reconciliation.

Management and audit of stock based in UK office.

Clear any Suspense Accounts.

Liaise with UK office with any changes to nominal structure.

Pay Salaries.

Pay Suppliers.

Purchasing and managing currencies as required.

Manage Petty Cash.

Ensure bank receipts are processed in a timely manner.

Bank reconciliation on Sage system.

Closing of ledgers on a timely basis, ensure all ledgers reconcile to the Balance Sheet.

Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts.

Preparing data to send to payroll company and checking payroll, ensuring they salaries are paid on time.

Completing forecasting reports to the parent company as required and in a timely manner.

Quarterly Requirements
  • Produce VAT return.
  • Ensure Sales are Reconciled to the VAT return.
  • Check any consigned stock are correct and in balance.
  • Fixed asset register and reconciliation.

Annual Requirements
  • Produce Year End file with reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts.
  • Create stock provision for any non-moving stock.
  • Liaise with Auditors and produce all analysis of P&L and Balance reports prior to audit.
  • Manage audit and provide all information required.
  • Assist in producing Annual Budget and cash-flow forecast.
  • R&D tax credit support.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Understanding of accounting knowledge up to Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet.
  • At least 5 GCSE grade C passes or above; to include Maths.
  • ACCA/CIMA qualified or near completion.
  • Excellent Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Sage 500 knowledge would be advantageous.
  • Ability to produce accurate work to tight deadlines.

An attractive salary is on offer between £55,000 - £62,000 per annum.
