Forensic Accountant - Associate Director

Starting immediately, a Forensic and Investigative Professional Support Services Consultancy is looking for a Forensic Accountant at Associate Director level to work from its London office.

Job Description

They are looking for an individual who seeks exciting, long-term career challenges and has a genuine interest in the area of forensic/investigative accounting and litigation support services. Successful individuals in this field are naturally outgoing, self-motivated, possess strong communication, leadership and analytical skills, and enjoy a wide variety of work experiences and challenges. Due to having a number of clients internationally, the ability to speak a foreign language in addition to English would be strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage teams to perform complete analysis of accounting, finance, economic issues in the context of business transactions; provide recommendations where applicable

Ensure the review of documents to identify items relevant to investigation are delivered

Compile and analyse facts to formulate, substantiate and/or critique financial calculations, theories, claims, or conclusions and present business data at a high level

Present reports of findings including the preparation of tables, exhibits and charts.

Lead a culture where integrity of corporate information is maintained

Balance multiple projects and responsibilities

Communicate effectively to all levels of engagement management

Lead a culture which demonstrates an understanding of risk associated with various engagements

Play a leading role in supporting the firm in its business development and marketing activities and recruitment of a professional team

While leading individual projects, deals with staffing issues to ensure coverage of their own, and other projects

Has worked with external firms or company management to plan, structure and execute strategic work plans for long term assignments

Strategic thinking and analysis:

Strong analytical skills

Involved in projects outside of personal expertise so as to broaden experience

Has an understanding of the company's service lines and can identify cross-selling opportunities

Execution:

Monitors budget proactively to maximize staff billing and downtime

Implements standards for quality and evaluates delivery against the standards

Monitors actual progress against work plan and budget surfacing issues proactively to avoid overruns on un-billable fees

Persistently diligent in overcoming obstacles to achieve goals

Technical knowledge/Professional development:

Takes responsibility for own technical and professional development

Informally acts as a mentor to junior staff to aid their technical and professional skills

Has undertaken internal training of junior staff on relevant accounting, investigatory or regulatory issues

Has a sound knowledge of compliance and regulatory environment

Qualifications, Skills and Experience - Essential

At least 8 years' experience of technical and financial advisory work related to accounting, forensic accounting, investigation or litigation services required

Demonstrated experience in business and strategic planning, managing client relationships

Ability to lead, create and deliver client service work that exceeds client expectations

Ability to lead teams to deliver specific assignment tasks and produce relevant conclusions

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel

Proficiency with document review platforms such as Relativity

Flexibility with the travel requirements of client service projects required

Professional demeanour and strong communication skills, both written and oral

Ability to communicate professionally both internally to partners and externally to clients and convey key assignment issues

A strong accounting, finance, and/or economics background required

Graduate diploma in accounting (or related) required

Qualifications, Skills and Experience - Preferred

Prior forensic accounting experience strongly preferred

Business fluency in German, Russian, Portuguese, Mandarin and/or Spanish strongly preferred.

Public accounting or audit experience in a professional services firm strongly preferred

A track record of international assignments likely to have involved a foreign language

Experience in the Financial Services Industry a plus

A track record of overseas on-the-ground experience
