My client currently have an opening for Associate Finance Director based in Waterford. This is a super opportunity to join this growing business.


Purpose Of The Job

As an Associate Director - Accounting you are part of the European Accounting team and you work closely with the European Accounting Directors and with the Ireland CFO. In this position you are responsible for overseeing all areas of group and statutory reporting for Ireland. You are also responsible for the development and maintenance of Accounting principles, practices & procedures in line with US GAAP, local GAAP & corporate policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Play a key leadership role across the Finance function, developing and coaching direct reports but also acting as a mentor and influence for people across the broader business
• Become business partner and provide key support to the CFO
• Establish and maintain a financial control framework commensurate with a business of this scale, to ensure the accuracy and integrity of reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements
• Recruit, manage and develop professional employees and/or team leaders ensuring the ongoing development of the team and creation of a high performance environment
• Manage and oversee day-to-day operations
• Responsible for preparation of statutory financial statements and other local requirements
• Accurate and timely monthly reporting of several legal entities based on US GAAP / Business Units reporting guidelines
• Work to tight reporting deadlines through planning and controlling efficient work processes
• Review and coordination of monthly, quarterly and year-end closing activities
• Collaborate with different stakeholders across the organization to ensure accurate presentation and valuation of all assets & liabilities
• Review and provide information and clarifications to internal management regarding reported financial results
• Responsible for VAT and income tax reporting and compliance, in cooperation with the local Tax Manager
• Review and approve monthly / quarterly / yearly cash flow reports, in cooperation with the Treasury department
• Lead, drive and support improvements and change programmes across the organisation
• Ensure compliance with SOX, regulatory requirements and internal guidelines
• Act as point of contact for external and internal auditors. Take ownership for resolving key audit findings and significant accounting matters


Qualifications

Be educated to Degree level, or equivalent, and possess a professional accounting qualification such as ACA/ACCA/CPA

Knowledge, Skills And Experience

Knowledge of SAP and the pharmaceutical industry
• Extensive experience in accounting
• Proven management ability
• Experience in a fast-paced multinational matrix organization
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP
• System change experience
• Strong communication and influencing skills.
• Flexible and able to work in a changing environment
• Ability to work under pressure and to strict timelines
• Excellent collaboration with colleagues within the local organization and with the colleagues within the shared service center to support the overall Finance department's goals and objectives
• Problem solver
