Our client is looking for an experienced Accountant with a background working within Local Authority to come in and take the lead on one of their school functions.

Description

 Being the lead officer for the Schools Finance and Funding

 Ensuring funding announcements and consultations are understood, interpreted, communicated and responded to

 Managing the budget setting process internally within the authorities

 Providing financial advice and support to service managers

 Budget monitoring the budgets in liaison with the Business Partner team ultimately reporting to the Schools Forum performance against the budget

 Ensuring compliance with central government returns as required and adherence to the Financial Regulations

 Overseeing the operational aspects of the team for schools finance such as approving the monthly funding transfers to schools, managing school redundancy business cases in liaison with schools and maintaining the ledger

 Providing customer focused technical and strategic schools finance advice to finance and service colleagues

 Continually seeking to identify improvements and efficiency's in the schools finance and funding processes

Profile

proactive, flexible, and technical individual who has the ability to work in a fast paced environment

building effective working relationships and willing to take on a highly challenging portfolio and develop their technical accounting skills

Local Authority experience in essential

Exposure to Education is desirable
