This company, based in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area, offers a challenging and multi–faceted opportunity where effort is rewarded. In this role, it will be critical for you to prepare journal entries, monthly and year–end closings, bank reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation and be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. The ideal candidate for this role will be comfortable interacting with the various business areas/leadership on accounting details related to the respective areas of operations. This role is very collaborative and requires someone more outgoing and eager to proactively partner and collaborate with the various business units.
Your responsibilities

– Regularly maintain and reconcile journal entries

– Survey and organize various financial data, reporting it in a useful and understandable manner

– In–depth experience with month end balance sheet account reconciliations

– Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

– Intercompany billings, transactions, and reconciliation

– Compose journal entries and conduct the month end close with minimal supervision

– Organize schedules for monthly payments and capital lease

– Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

– Contribute to the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

– Assemble analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management reporting

– Upon request, take part in special projects and impromptu reporting

– Play a part in a variety of department–wide initiatives
– Competent with spreadsheets and databases

– Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines

– BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

– Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

– Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity

– Demonstrated ability in strong analytical, quantitative and social skills

– 2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience

– Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast–paced environment

– Account reconciliation experience

– Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

– Comprehensive knowledge of general ledger

– Self–starter with efficient time management and organizational skills

– Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills

– Knowledgeable of ERP systems
