Join us as a Finance Business Partner (Lower Manager) in Edinburgh
  • We have an exciting opportunity for a finance professional to join us as a Finance Business Partner supporting our functions

What you'll do

Finance is responsible for influencing decisions through the provision of commercial and financial expertise and ensuring compliance with the bank's governance framework, enabling us to deliver long-term, sustainable value for customers. This role will see you developing an understanding of the bank's strategy and the role our functions have in this. You'll work with your stakeholders, challenging and supporting them to achieve stretching financial targets in line with overall goals, while providing analysis to help better decision making.

As well as this, you'll be:
  • Building a good understanding of the business that enables you to provide credible and expert financial advice and influence decision making
  • Helping drive insight as a trusted adviser to the business, advising on a range of financial and commercial issues.
  • Providing high quality financial guidance, support and challenge to the business to effectively balance strategic priorities with cost reduction commitments
  • Partnering with the Business Intelligence team and colleagues in Financial Control & Reporting to deliver insightful financial analysis to stakeholders and enhance decision making
  • Ensuring core financial processes such as reporting and forecasting are delivered smoothly
  • Making sure that appropriate tracking and support is in place to measure reporting and project deliverables

The skills you'll need

We're looking for someone with good business acumen and a good understanding and appreciation of how the bank operates. You'll need to be fully CA, ACA, CIMA or MBA qualified, or equivalent, and will have the ability to communicate complex financial information in a concise, non-technical manner with recommendations.

Financial services and business partnering experience is preferable, but not essential.

We'll also look to you to demonstrate:
  • A broad understanding of effective cost management and the ability to challenge the business collaboratively
  • The ability to deal with ambiguity, uncertainty and risk and work in a flexible environment
  • Strong communication, influencing, analytical and time management skills
  • Good commercial decision making and negotiation skills
  • The ability to face off to senior stakeholders across the bank, and able to adapt to the changing requirements of business customers and stakeholders
  • The ability to multi-task, prioritise effectively and work under pressure
